here i was..
another night under the stars.
the air was warmer now.
i no longer needed a jacket.
my head raced.
millions of thoughts ran around my brain.
it was calming-
being out here alone i mean.
that loneliness and quietness didnt last long.
the voice of my three best friends was heard.
julie was smiling, her voice showed it.
alex was laughing, what a contagious laugh i would miss.
reggie was scolding them for being so loud.
they noticed me too.
alex was the first to do anything.
he sat next to me.
a simple gesture.
a simple gesture that made me smile.
it was small, i doubt anyone noticed.
julie was next.
her head laying in alex's laugh.
her brown eyes staring up at the stars- mesmerized.
reggie finally laid down next to me.
his head was on my shoulder.
could he tell i was blushing?
it was dark but i'm sure heat was radiating from my cheeks.
"i like it out here, luke. i really do."
my curly haired best friend spoke in a soft voice.
"me too, jules.."
my eyes ran across everyone.
julie was still staring at the stars- singing a song to herself.
alex had his hands behind him, pink hoodie bringing out his blonde hair.
both of them occasionally making eye contact and laughing.
i've missed having alex with us- he makes the group complete.
then reggie..
the dark haired boy was next to me with a fond smile.
he felt me staring.
his eyes slowly moved to meet mine.
the eye contact remained strong.
i knew i was leaning down to his lips- but made no move to stop.
finally..
our lips touched.
no sparks were felt.
no fireworks lit up the night.
it did feel right though.
his warm lips against my cold ones.
"GUYS! A shooting star!"
julies excitement broke our kiss.
reggie left his head on my shoulder.
"yeah- i saw it jules!"
he was lying.
alex chuckled quietly then winked at me when our eyes met.
he saw.
a blush coated my cheeks.
i was going to miss these times..
i was going to miss them.
