A Wish to Remember

Chapter 3

"Hey Sayaka, Kyoko?" Madoka asked as soon as lunch break started.

The two girls looked up in sync, which Madoka tried not to laugh at.

"Do you want to have lunch together?" the pinkette asked.

"I've got a friend in the ninth grade I was gonna eat with," Kyoko admitted, only to get elbowed.

"She can come too!" Madoka chirped and ran over to Homura before Kyoko could ask how she knew they were a girl.

"She's been like that all day." Sayaka explained at Kyoko's look of confusion.

Kyoko frowned, but didn't say anything as she followed the pinkette over to Homura.

Sayaka just shrugged, deciding she just had weird friends, and joined the three.

"So, you wanted to talk?" Mami asked as she sat next to Kyoko.

Madoka and Homura were talking about school, while Sayaka tried in vain to join in.

Kyoko nodded. "Yeah, I know this sounds crazy, but I feel like my family's supposed to be dead."

Mami's eyes widened.

"I had a dream where they died when my dad found out I was a Magical Girl." Kyoko explained.

"It doesn't sound crazy, I had a similar dream," Mami admitted. "My parents died in a traffic accident two years ago, and I wished to only save myself..."

"Hey, why so depressed?" Sayaka asked, having given up on Madoka and Homura.

"We were just talking about our dreams from last night," Mami answered.

"I don't remember much, just a tune stuck in my head." Sayaka laughed awkwardly, rubbing her neck.

"Is that what you were humming before?" Kyoko asked.

Sayaka nodded and started humming it again.

"It sounds familiar." Mami frowned, trying to remember.

A red theatre, with a band made of water playing loudly.

Everyone was there except Sayaka, and they were fighting the Familiars of a giant, armored mermaid Witch.

"Sayaka! I know you never wanted to hurt anyone! You said you wanted to be a hero, remember?! Please Sayaka! Turn back into your old self!"

Giant wooden cartwheels came flying at Madoka, then everything exploded and they were at the train station.

"Dammit Sayaka..." Kyoko slammed her fist on the railing while trying to hold back tears.

Madoka sat hunched over on the floor, crying. "This isn't right! It's awful...!"

Then Kyoko's Soul Gem exploded, and the red head fell to the ground, Homura was tied up in familiar yellow ribbons, staring at Mami like she'd gone crazy, and the blonde knew... she had...

Mami came to with a start, wide tear filled eyes staring at Kyoko and Sayaka.

"W-What was that?" she breathed.

"What's wrong Mami?" Sayaka asked worriedly.

"Y-You were a Witch!" Mami cried, drawing Madoka and Homura's attention. "I killed Kyoko... and was about to kill Homura..." Mami explained, staring at them all sadly.

"What else happened?" Madoka asked in a rare, serious tone.

"You were getting attacked by giant wheels, then everything suddenly exploded," Mami answered, frowning in confusion.
