Lay me by the frozen river

Where the boats have passed me by

All I need is to remember

How it was to feel alive

JJ's head seemed to momentarily pause at all the questions she had for the other woman, as their lips pressed lightly against one another. Right now she focused on the sweet taste of the brunette before her. Her lips tasted like vanilla and cherries, but didn't completely mask the hint of salt. From whose tears that salt came from, JJ couldn't be sure and couldn't care in the slightest. Just as Emily reached her hand to the back of JJ's head to deepen the kiss, JJ pulled back.

JJ could kiss Emily all night long and be perfectly content, but there were still things that needed to be discussed before continuing. "Before this goes any further, and trust me, I do want it to go further, we need to talk about some things"

With Emily's face softening as she realized JJ was going to take this slow and make sure both of the women were ready to dive into whatever it was they were doing, she let the corners of her mouth shift up slightly. "I know, you're right. Let me get us some food and something to drink, you haven't eaten all day and I know you didn't grab food at the hotel because you hate hotel food" Emily said getting up and heading over to the kitchen. "You want wine, water? I have some beer in the closet, but it's not cold I usually only drink it on girls nights". She began rummaging around her fridge looking for some food options as the blonde woman let herself stare at the sight before her.

Noticing JJ wasn't responding Emily bent up looking over to the other woman. She cocked her eyebrow when she was met with a smile and stare coming from JJ on the couch. "Hellooo, earth to JJ"

Snapping out of her trance JJ quickly responded, "Sorry. Wines good. And I'm not hungry. I grabbed a bagel at lunch and had a couple protein bars packed in my purse from another day". She felt her cheeks grow hot at getting caught gawking at the brunette, but Emily just responded with a smile and went to finish preparing the wine.

JJ felt her body relaxing into the couch. Her mind was still moving a mile per minute, but it didn't take away from the lack of sleep she had gotten over the past week. Her eyes began to feel like a weight. She didn't understand everything going on with Emily, but she wanted to. By god did she want to. Stroking the back of Emily's head while she took every ounce of hurt the woman had ever felt, until there was nothing more than sunlight and happiness in her heart. She wanted her hands caressing every square inch of the other woman's body, erasing the past violence and misery she endured.

She would give Emily anything. Everything.

JJ's eyes snapped open from a sleep she didn't realize she was falling into when she felt a buzz in her back pocket. In a haze, she pulled out her phone, absentmindedly answering the call without looking at the ID.

"Jareau" JJ mumbled into the phone as Emily walked back into the living room with two filled wine glasses and a bag of pretzels.

"Really? The first time you've answered my calls in 4 days and all I get is Jareau?" Will bit through the phone, anger wrapped in every word.

JJ felt her heart drop. She knew she couldn't avoid Will indefinitely, but had hoped to get her head on her shoulders straight before deciding how to approach him. "I- I'm sor-sorry, I-"

"What the hell are you doing? You just leave me and Henry, deciding that you no longer want to be a part of this family? You're pathetic and you should be ashamed of yourself"
