Jess's POV (in Coma)
"Jaime! Take it easy with your sister." Judith shouts from the shore. My arms are wrapped loosely around her from behind.
"Let 'em be, Love. Dame is watching them and we're watching him. They're fine." I say as I caress her distended stomach.
"I hope you're not going to be as laidback when this one comes." Judith says as she links her hand with my splayed hand over her belly. We both sigh when we feel little kicks.
"Probably." We continue watching our kids playing in the sand. They've grown up so quick. Dame is ten years old and about five foot six. His blonde hair has darkened; he looks like a little man. Not to mention the twins. Alexis is Judith's spitting image while Jaime looks like Dame's twin.
I couldn't be happier with my family.
"Why do you to look like a Hallmark card?" Andrej asks as he and Wes walk up to us.
"Why must you creep up to us?"
"Because I love to see you jump." I chuckle as Judith gets out my embrace to greet Wes. They've been close since the Keith incident. Andrej claps me on the back.
"You ready for this one?"
"Nope. I'm never ready for them. By the way, thanks for your help."
"No problem. A promise is a promise." I hug Andrej quickly so he doesn't see my tears. Wes runs up to us cradling Judith in his arms. Andrej calls the children up as Wes and I settle Judith in the car.
"This is the last one!" Judith screeches through a rough contraction.
'Yeah right.'
"I know baby." I say in a soothing voice. Wes cautiously pulls away from the beach. We reach Mach 5 speeding towards the hospital.
"Where are the kids?! I forgot the kids! I'm a horrible mother!" Judith cries as Wes settles her in a wheelchair.
"The kids are with Drej. They're fine. You're not a horrible mother, babe." I try to reason with Judith. I forgot that women in labor do not listen to reason. Judith alternates between swearing at me and sobbing hysterically.
I play the role of the doting and abused spouse until the doctor comes in.
"It's about time." Judith screeches. I turn to look into the face of my guardian angel.
"I agree; it is time." He smiles serenely at me as he reaches out to me and pulls me through the ether once again.
"Why now? Why?"
"So you can make it a reality. Are you ready?"
"As ready as I'll ever be. What do I have to do?"
"Take a deep breath and hold on tight." Before I can ask to what, I feel an invisible force pulling me into a deep blackness travelling at I assume is the speed of light or sound. I faintly hear my guardian say open your eyes.
Judith's POV
I feel a hand on my cheek. A simple caress that jolts me awake.
"Jess! Jess, you're awake." I exclaim. I lift my head and hold Jess's hand to my cheek. She cups it.
"Hey." Jess hoarsely rasps.
'Thank you G-d! You've made a believer out of me.'
"Hey babe."
"Water." Jess asks. I pour some water into a cup with a straw. I slowly lower the straw to Jess's mouth. She sips until the cup is empty and motions me to pour more. After drinking, she licks her dry lips.
"I'ma call the doctor now." I click the nurse button.
"Before he comes, I have to ask you something. Will you make my fantasies come true and marry me?" Jess whispers while she caresses my hand.
"Yes."
