Jess's POV
Jess rolls out of bed during the early morning hours. Jess looks over at her clock. It reads 5:34 A.M.
'It's much too early. Why am I even up right now?' Jess stretches and slips into some clothes. She walks out her bedroom and stops when she sees Damien.
'Damn. I forgot about Judith and Damien.'
"Hey, bud. Isn't it early for you to be up?" Damien rubs his eyes and waved Jess over.
"Mama's crying. I can't sleep." Damien grabs Jess's hand and leads her to the guestroom.
"Hold on, bud. Let me set you up in my room. You need to sleep." Jess swings Damien into her arms and carries him to her room. She lays him down and he falls asleep instantly. Jess walks into the guestroom.
Judith's still asleep. She lies in the middle of the bed. There dry tears stain her face. Little moans escape out of her nouth.
'Damn him! Judith doesn't deserve this!' Jess watches over Judith until she sees Judith in the throes of a nightmare.
"No! Keith, please! Not my baby!" Judith pleads with her imaginary attacker.
Jess climbs into the bed, unsure of her next move. She pats Judith's back and murmurs comforting words into her hair. Slowly, Judith calms down. She turns in her sleep and embraces Jess. Jess watches as Judith smiles in her sleep. Jess tucks Judith's head beneath her own and cuddles with her.
'I wouldn't mind waking up like this every morning. Keith's lost is my gain. I'll never let him near her again.'
Judith's POV
'Why is the room so dark? Who's holding me? It feels so good to be held.' I look over my shoulder and see Jess spooning me. She has the most satisfied smile on her face. Her auburn hair is fanned out on her pillow. I snuggle deeper into her arms and hear her sigh happily.
'I wish I could be here all day and all night. Too bad my ankle is throbbing and I'm starving.'
I twist so that I'm facing Jess. I pat her shoulder.
"Jess. Jess! Wake up!" I whispered. I really didn't want to wake her but I needed help.
"Erggghhhhg. Grrrrbbbrr! I'm up." Jess was coming awake and making some strange sounds. She looked down at our joined bodies and smirked.
"What a pleasant way to wake!" I could feel the blood rushing to my face.
"Thank you? I need to wrap my ankle. It's throbbing something fierce." I hate that it sounds like I was begging. I think Jess could sense my discomfort because she continued making jokes to put my mind at ease.
"I rather unwrap your towel." Jess winks. She gets up and stretches. Jess walks towards the foot of the massive bed.
"Where's the wrap?" She questions me.
"In the bathroom." She goes in to the bathroom and quickly comes out with the wrap.
"Its gonna hurt before it gets better." We both grimace as she begins to wrap my ankle. She wraps it tight enough.to stabilize my ankle.without causing unnecessary pain.
"Thanks. For everything." I blush as she gives me another sexy smirk.
'Sexy?'
"No worries. Let's go wake Damien and find some grub." I instantly frown. How could I forget about my son?
"I'm such a horrible mother." Tears start pouring out my eyes. Jess wraps her arms around me.
"Hush. You're not a horrible mom. I think you know that he's safe and you're beginning to trust me. You can trust me! I won't let Keith or anybody harm you guys."
"How do you know about Keith?"
"Damien came and got me. You were thrashing about in your dream. You kept saying Keith's name and something about a baby." I accept Jess's comfort and calm down a bit.
"I'll get Damien. You stay and get dress or else I might not be such a good hostess." Jess smirks at me as she leaves the room
Jess's POV
'I can't believe I'm flirting with Judith! She's so beautiful especially when she blushes.'
Jess walks into her room. She looks at the bed and sees Damien still asleep. Little light snores exit his open mouth.
'He's so adorable. Like mother, Like son.'
"Hey, Damien. It's time to get up bud."
"Wha? Huh?"
"Damien, it's me. It's Jess. Your mom is up."
"Mama's fine?"
"Yup. We're gonna make her breakfast so that she'll feel better. Ok?"
"Ok." Damien rubs his eyes and walks to the bathroom.
"Jess, could I have a toothbrush?"
"Sure, bud." Jess walks into her bathroom and reaches under her sink for a fresh toothbrush.
"There you go, bud. Hurry up so we can fix Mama's breakfast." Jess watches as Damien speedily brushes his teeth and washes his face.
"Ready." They walk downstairs hand in hand.
"How about pancakes, eggs, and bacon?" Jess suggests.
"Sounds good." Jess puts a mixing bowl on her kitchen island. She gets all the ingredients to make the pancakes and sets them out.
"Could I mix the batter, Jess? Mama always lets me mix it."
"Of course, little man. I was just going to suggest that." Jess helps Damien onto a chair at the island. Together they put the ingredients in the bowl and mix the batter. Then, Jess makes quick work of scrambled eggs and fries the bacon crispy. They're so into their work that they don't hear Judith coming down the steps.
Judith's POV
There's nothing like the smell of bacon frying. The whole house smells delicious. The sound of my son giggling warms my heart to no end.'We'll be safe here but for how long?'
