Two years later

Two years had passed since me and Alan had moved to England yeah I know two years but if I'm honest It didn't feel like long at all, it felt like only yesterday we were boarding the plane
I was doing my shifts at the pub and Alan had dropped the post office and gotten an job in theatre. I was playing in pub doing my usual Saturday night shift looking around for Alan who was at some theatre meeting, I was worried he had seemed distance as of late like there was something bothering him. I started the next song which always went down a treat, breakfast at Tiffany's, at this Alan walked in and bought himself a drink, smiling up at me as I played, it was the last song on my list so after that I went to meet Alan at the table
" hi"
" hello darling"
" you want another drink"
" yeah okay just one though"
" you feeling ok it's just you've been a bit off lately"
" me no I'm fine I've not been off"
" Right, okay"
" another beer"
" yes please"
I walked up to the bar and ordered a beer and a strawberry daiquiri walking back to the table trying not to spill anything. Alan grabbed my hand once I sat down
" you were great up there"
" you only saw the last song"
Alan looked down to the floor
" yeah I'm sorry I.."
" oh no Alan I wasn't having a dig I... god I feel awful now"
" no please don't it's okay honestly, listen why don't we get out of here, go get some chips and take a walk along the bridge"
" yeah that sounds lovely"
We walked to chippy and ordered too small boxes and strolled along the bridge I stopped to talk to Alan and we looked out onto the river
" so how was the meeting"
" erm yeah it was okay"
" bet it was Better than our flight"
I turned around to see Jess Felix and Rhianna standing with there with their arms open
" OMG WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING HERE"
" Alan booked us a flight said he knew how much you missed home and would want to see us"
I turned around to hug Alan only to find him down on one knee
" oh my god"
" Ellie, when we first met I wasn't having the easiest time you showed me kindness, warmth and love, you helped me up when I fell down literally, I never thought I could be as happy as I am when I'm with you so if you think you can put up with me it would make me the happiest man in the world if you'd marry me"
" yes yes and more yes"
Alan got up from one knee put the ring on my finger and kissed me. I turned to Jess fe and Rhianna and ran into their arms, Alan laughed with this huge smile on his face
" oh Alan it's lovely, but how are we going to pay for it"
" Well we thought we could chip in"
Jess Fe and Rhianna moved out the way to reveal my auntie and uncle
" omg" I ran into their arms full pelt
" you organised all this"
" yes well I wanted to make it special for you, that's why I've been a little funny as you put it"
" oh your brilliant"
" yeah you've struck gold with that one chum"
" thanks Mr Morrice"
" so you wanna come back to our for drinks"
" yeah sure" we walked back to the apartment Alan and me hand in hand

Yep I have indeed and I wouldn't change him for the world
" nice place guys"
" yeah it's Alan's uncles actually"
" oh right and is he"
" he works offshore a lot of the time then travels around a lot of the time"

" so Alan how's the plays going"
" not bad Mrs Morrice"
" you do know you don't have to call us Mr and Mrs Morrice you can call us Chris and Linda if you like I mean you are part of the family"

We talked the rest of the night about sport, jobs, celebrities
" so where are you guys all staying"
" well me and your uncle Chris here are going to be staying with a friend in Manchester starting on Monday"
" and Me Jess and Fe well we have something different lined up"

" we've actually bought an apartment"

" yeah it's here in Chelsea"

" well I erm, your sister is busy with school"

" anyways I better pass you on to your dad"

" it was so sweet dad I couldn't have asked for better"
I looked back at Alan who was laughing with everyone
" he seems like a real keeper that one"
" yeah he is"
" will you put him on the phone for a minute"
" okay sure just don't say anything mom would say"
" Alan my dad wants to speak to you"
" oh right yes"

Alan's POV:
I ran up to the phone and took a deep breath before speaking
" Alan here"
" ah Alan how are you"
" fine Mr Morrice how are you"
" not bad not bad listen I know your a great kid and I know you make Ellie happy so I just wanted to congratulate you on the purposal"
" thanks that means a lot"
" now go on stop talking to this old sod and go and make my daughter happy, tell her I love her"
" i will thanks bye now"

My POV
Alan came back over from the phone and sat beside me giving a small kiss as he did so
" right I suppose we better get going"
" yeah us too"
" ok guys listen do you guys wanna meet up for lunch say Sunday"
" well we can easy cancel our plans for tomorrow darling it's not a problem"
" no this is the most I've seen you all week I don't want to cancel our time together"
" yeah Ellie's right Son you shouldn't cancel your plans when we're all free Sunday"
" okay shall we meet at the cafe beside the river"
" yeah sure"
" ok see you then bye love yous"
I leaned against the door and sighed
" you alright darling"
" I'm fine, I'm more than fine I'm I'm perfect"
" I did everything right then"
" I was more than just right I was so so sweet"
" I'm glad, I just want to make you happy and..."
" and what"
" no nothing, it might freak you out"
" Alan hahaha come on you can tell me"
" well it's just that marrying me isn't just putting a ring on my finger and saying I do, by saying yes tonight you've agreed to put up with all my nonsense, to help me through thick and thin, to never give up on us does that make it sound scary"
" no of course not, marrying you isn't scary it's the best thing I will ever do, I can't wait to for you to become my husband"
" I can't wait for you to become my wife but you I don't want it to change anything"

" well I don't want us to fight because we're married or I don't want us to drift apart"
" we won't we're so committed to each other I don't think anything will change"

We hugged whilst lying on the sofa, I was so happy Alan had purposed it felt like everything was falling into place.
" you wanna go through to bed"
" yeah let's go"
We clambered through to bed and lay listening to each other as each one drifted asleep. I've dreamt about this day for years the day I get to say yes to the man I love and now that it's here I can't wait to say I do
