As hard as I tried, I didn't get that childhood dream out of my mind: to be an airplane pilot.
You know that phrase: "If you don't know where you're going, any path will do." That's how the Resistance makes me feel.
I keep imagining an airplane pilot in this situation, not knowing where to take hundreds of passengers. Any path will do as long as it lands before the fuel runs out. How pathetic.
I better stay down here anyway.
Ângelo always asked me:
"Nilo! When are you going to risk it?"
And I answered:
"Never. It is very time consuming and bureaucratic. And you know me. You know how fearful I am."
And he insisted:
"Well! Fear of the plane you have already overcome. You have already parachuted, which is much more tense."
Did he invite me to parachute just for fun or was it to motivate me?
Either the guy is crazy, or I'm too self-centered, to the point of not seeing kindness in people.
And while I dreamed alone in my room, he knocks on my door and says:
"Nilo, I got some great news. I got an internship at an investment bank."
And, in the place I love. I am very happy.
"Damn, Angelo! Congratulations!" He dreamed big.
Before preparing for selection processes, he studied companies carefully. Its history, its potential and even marked the addresses.
I remember that on one of those times we went out, he invited me to pass in front of a building on the most modern avenue in the city. Just to tell me that there would be his place in the sun.
And I would do my part, inviting him to celebrate.
"How about a different program to celebrate? I discovered a nightclub unlike any we had ever known."
"You're messing with my curiosity."
"Dico, it's exciting. The woofers are located under a wooden floor. And the promoter of the nightclub, a sculptural brunette, topless in a hot tub."
"Wow! I'll get ready. I knew he wouldn't refuse."
We got to the club.
The house was packed. Nice night. Everything went well.
In line for entry, there was no forgiveness for guys younger than eighteen years old. Entry was prohibited.
Some boys even tried to present false documents, but they didn't work. Security guards kindly asked them to get out of line.
There goes Dico to the bar. Excited, he ordered a whiskey and was already going to the center of the dance floor.
"Dico, don't drink too much, huh?"
"Let me enjoy a little."
"Ok! The life is yours. Remember that you have an internship the day after tomorrow."
Beautiful girls, good music, lighting and a sensational environment.
Suddenly the soundstarted and everyone started to dance.
Everyone loose. It felt great.
The sound seemed to come in our feet and made us tremble from the inside out. It was electrifying.
Ângelo:
"I'll get us some beers."
I kept waiting. The party was growing. Lots of people and all the possible songs: Techno dance, flashback. It was rocking. Suddenly, a girl passed by me.
