The Spiders Scarlet (Shalnark X Kurta Reader)

♧ Chapter 3 ♧

A/n: Some of this section will include things from hunter x hunter 1999 version. Just a heads up incase things don't seem quite to the 2011 version.
Edit: At the time of continuing this I noticed that HxH 1999 was taken off of YouTube, so at this point none of what the characters say will be accurate. Please bare with me.

As we wait for this phase to start I just listen to the conversation the others are having. "Why don't you talk to us?" Gon asked. "Or much at all really." Kurapika added. I pause for a moment, thinking of how I want to phrase this without sounding completely rude.

"I will admit, you are all a strange group. In a good way of course. But I told myself I would never get close to another ever since.." I stopped talking and turned my face, knowing tears were streaming streaming my face.

After a while this other person walks up to us, he's short and stout man. "Looks like a bunch of rookies I see, I'm Tonpa." The man says. He talks to them more but I stop listening to him. I return my gaze to Kurapika. "I know him from somewhere. But where?" I keep thinking to myself. I guess I was thinking out loud. "Know who from where?" Gon asks. Kurapika and Leorio look at me and I am suddenly making direct eye contact with Kurapika.

I move my head off to the side trying to think of something to say. "No one here Gon, I just zoned out a bit." I say to the boy, he just nods in response. After a while we see a giant door open, signaling the first phase has now begun. We all start walking but it quickly turns to a run. 'I should pace myself.' I thought to myself. I have never been to fond of running after that day at the clan.

As we run I get small flashbacks and make sure my hood is up. Kurapika sees me grab for my hood and lightly puts a hand on my sholder. "Just breath (Y/n), something is bothering you but I won't push you to talk about it. Just know you don't have to be afraid." I relax and let go of my hood. I talk back and forth with Leorio and Kurapika since Gon found a little white haired boy to be friends with.

"So Kurapika, you said your a kurta right?" I say to the blonde. "Yes I am, why do you ask?" He says and looks at me. 'Should I tell him?' I thought for a while. "I- nevermind. I forget what I was going to ask." I laughs lightly before looking away, focusing on running. He looks at me for a few seconds before returning his gaze in front of him.

"So your this secretive?" Leorio asked. "I Have my reasons." I respond, Kurapika only laughs slightly. "We cannot pester her for wanting to keep her motives hidden Leorio." He says with a slight chuckle to his voice. I smile slightly and laugh a little as well. Both boys just turn and look at me, seeing the small smile on my face.

I turn and look at Kurapika, I get a feeling of deja vu and look forward, trying to remember where I've seen that soft look of his. "Judging by how you reacted, we are stuck on the same feeling." I look at him, 'He has the same feeling? How does he know I have a certain feeling?' I think for a while.

"Just gonna leave me out of this huh?" Leorio pipes up, Kurapika and I just laugh. But Kurapika is right, there is a feeling that I have regarding the boy next to me. As if I already have a strong bond with him but I don't know him. I feel like I know every detail about him but that's impossible, but at the same time he is also a Kurta so our paths have probably crossed before.

I get a flashback from back at the clan. Smiling and hanging out with my friends, I miss thoes days. Now wasn't the time to remember this, I had to pass the exam. I run along, trying to keep up with Leorio and Kurapika. It was probably around 2 or 3 hours now and we were still sprinting. I was finding it harder and harder to keep up, I could tell Leorio felt the same.

"Let me help you two out." Tonpa said. We nodded as he helped Leorio who was in worse shape than I. I followed them. The more we got to the smell the more my head became fuzzy, I didn't see anything coming until Tonpa dropped Leorio and said it was a trap. Not long after that I blacked out.

I woke up in this strange yet familiar place, it was the clan. I saw Pario and my older brother, though it wasn't a clear image of him. We were running around and having fun. We walked to the main area as we watched my brother leave on his mission, oh how I miss him. Suddenly everything turns to a massacre and I'm running through the woods with Pairo.

Several sence flash through my head. After a whike I feel someone shake my sholder, my eyes go normal and I see Kurapika kneeling down next to me along with Gon and his white haired friend of who I found out was Killua. I stand up and look over to Leorio, still in his trance. "The sent from the sap of these trees is enough to give you hallucinations." Said Killua.

"So that's what happened?" I said as I slowly stood up. Kurapika helped my, probably noticing my eyes had gone scarlet. "You were tricked." Killua said. I looked at the boy who appeared to be almost my height but he was much closer to gons height. "Let's help out Leorio." Kurapika said. I nod and then we head off.

After a while we get Leorio to calm down and come back to his senses. Killua blows a hole in the wall and we all go flying out. To my surprise I didn't collide with the floor like I expected, rather I was in the arms of a certain dark haired man in a blue suit, Leorio had caught me and prevented any injury to happen. I thanked him and we continues the exam.

Not long after that it feels like eyes are burning into my head, knowing the particular blonde is looking at me. "Is there something you need Kurapika?" I glance over to him and he seems caught off guard slightly. "No, I still have a lingering feeling that I know you. But that would be impossible." So he and I still share the feeling. If im being fully honest he reminds me of my brother
I wish I could see him again, but as kurapika said that would be impossible since he died years ago.

We run up some stairs and make it to a door, finally outside air. I take a deep breath in and smile slightly, though I am more than well aware the exam has just begun and I will face many more obstacles.
