MARIANA WAITED FOR KAI AND elaina to show up, standing silently alone, thoughts running through her mind. what had happened was not normal. birds don't just kill themselves. "mariana" her head shot up, the couple walking in full of concern and worry.
"the school called and told elaina and i what happened, are you okay?" he said, scanning her body for any other injuries other than the few small cuts on her face. "yeah, i'm fine, just a few scratches" she replied.
"okay, let's get you home, yeah?" she simply nodded her head in response, clutching her belongings as they made their way out. as they walked, kai's eyes landed on a man who was talking to the girl scott had the weird interaction with. "oh christ" the witch mumbled as the man walked to his family. the man's jaw clenched, anger clearly shown on his face.
"you have a lot of nerve showing your face here, kai" the man began saying in a hushed-tone. "relax, christian, i'm not doing anything bad. just here for my family"
"oh, i know about you parker families" the man scowled, the man looked down at mariana, his expression blank, "i'm sorry this man is your father."
"who the hell even are you?" she asked in tone (and also pretty loudly), making the room grow silent as eyes landed on them. "mariana don't" kai told the girl softly. but she didn't care nor did she listen.
"you have a lot a balls to tell that to a parent's child, let alone in front of your own daughter. I don't know who you are or what title you think makes you so fucking powerful, but you are not as important as you think you are. you, are nothing. so the next time you wanna talk shit on parenting, cry to your fucked up parents for not raising you right" her eyes landing on the mans daughter.
"this your dad?" she asked rhetorically, "i'm sorry this man is your father. let's hope you don't turn out like him." she spoke, the anger laced like venom between her lips. "let's go." the parker couple said nothing, following mariana out the room and building. mariana parker had a lot of anger in her. anger she didn't know how to control. she never cared to. she never had anything to lose.
kai drove off, silence filling up the car. the silence was eating away at her "what do you think someone made the birds do that" she asked the couple. "the birds were the least of my concerns. and it should be the least of yours, too" elaina replied . "but birds don't just-" kai was quick to cut the girl off. "mariana- don't start analyzing. we left new orleans for a reason. for you to be safe. to live a normal human life-"
"but that wasn't normal-"
"it's not our problem. there's probably a logical explanation for what happened today" the man spoke. "logical? are you even listening to yourself? you're a fucking witch, kai. birds don't just fall out of the sky and die"
"then whoever knows more than us will take care of it. what you need to do is stay out of it" he ordered. "you're speaking like it's actually a whole thing. you're just not saying the definition of the word"
