THE SOUND OF GASPING AND splashing water caught the attention of the three surrounding mariana, including the girl herself. isaac, mariana, and lydia took the towels on the counter and walked to each surrogate, wrapping them around the bodies. "i know where is. i saw it!" informed scott.
"yeah, we passed it" added stiles, "there was this huge stump. this huge tree. well, it's not huge anymore, it was cut down. but it's still big though, very big"
"it was the night we were looking for the body" scott said. "yeah, the same night you were hit by peter" stiles agreed. "i was there too, i was in the car with my mother. we almost hit someone" allison said as she caught her breath.
"it was me" scott realized, "you almost hit me" he turned towards the four, "we can find it" he said. the four looked at the three with worried faces, not going un-noticed. "what?" allison questioned. "you guys were out a long time" isaac replied after a few seconds.
"how long is a long time?" stiles lilted. "16 hours" lydia replied, looking at her three best friends. "we were in the water for 16 hours?" scott questioned in disbelief, his voice raising in the slightest.
"and the moon rises in less than four."

"no dude. you are not going back with them" stiles argued. "he's right, scott" mariana added, "we can't risk it, we don't know what he'll do to you once he gets what he wants"
"i made a deal with deucalion" scott replied.
"does anyone else think that sounds a lot like a deal with the devil?"
"why does it matter anyway?" isaac asked. "because. i still don't think we can beat jennifer without their help" he answered. allison look towards deaton, "he trusts you more than anyone, tell him he's wrong"
"i'm not so sure he is" replied the vet. "circumstances like this sometimes require that you align yourself with people you'd normally consider enemies" he explained in attempts to defend scott. "so we're gonna trust him, the guy that calls himself death, destroyer of worlds? we're gonna trust that guy?" isaac asked in disbelief.
"i wouldn't trust him, no" deaton began, "but you could use him to your advantage. deucalion may be the enemy, but he could also be the bait"

stiles and mariana sat in stiles jeep. they were on their way to the root cellar where the parents were held. the ride was silent, both teens too worried to engage in conversation. the only thing rushing through marianas mind was what she saw in bardo.
the man who attacked her wasn't stiles, it was some sort of evil version of him. the girl was also in shock from seeing her mother and twin. is that what they currently looked like? why did the bardo spirits choose them in particular? it was eating her alive and she couldn't take it anymore.
