I woke to the sound of pounding at my door. Before I could reach the door I stopped. Something was off. I looked around and saw nothing but the shadows of my bedroom furniture and the dark corners that surrounded me. The pounding grew louder but I stayed, not moving, frozen. As if the being on the other side of the door couldn't take it anymore, the door broke open and fell just before my feet. I looked up and noticed the being wasn't my father, but Jev. I gasped, running over to the door and trying to pick it pack up. "What are you doing here!?"

Jev was as surprised as I was and backed away. "Wait a minute. You live here? That must mean your father is-" "yes" I said softly. "Now if you would please leave me alone. I'm sure you have something better to do." I finished lifting up my door from the floor and rested it against the wall. I was just gonna have to make it through the night with no door and then come up with an excuse as to why it came off.

I grinned at the thought and collapsed onto my bed. I soon remembered about my collar bone and sat back up, wincing at the slight pain that had come upon me. "You okay Angel?" Jev asked, walking over to me. I stood up. "No." He approached me with unimaginable speed and I soon realized I was pressed against the wall.

"Will you just leave me alone! That's all that I ask Jev! Just please-"

"Shhhhh..." He whispered, "there coming." I chuckled.

"No one is coming Jev, my dad has this place locked up. No one can get in." He shook his head. But wait, how did he show up at my door and not the window?

"How did you get inside?" I asked forcefully.

"Someone forgot to lock the door....."

"No. That's not possible. The doors had to have been locked. My father would have never gone to bed leaving the door to the tower unlocked..." Or would he? Ever since my dream, I wasn't so sure. The man I saw in my dream was nothing like the man I knew. "Who's coming?" I asked. If the doors really we're unlocked, I wanted to know who was coming.

"His name is Cade. He's a night caster like me."

"So you are a night caster."

"That's not the point. Cade is the leader for the night casters and under pitches orders, his job was most important."

"What was it?" I asked.

"Keeping you from getting out."

I gasped. My own father doesn't even want me to leave. "Is that it?" I wasn't pressed against the wall anymore and was nearing the door when Jev spoke up again. "Cade knows you have been outside and is going to tell pitch. I came to the tower to see if you were okay, but the door was left open. I thought Cade had already come to get you, but he hasn't." Jev was by the windowsill, his face cupped in his hands.

"He's going to hurt you Catherine. When he finds out that you disobeyed him and told her about it but not him himself, he's going to get mad." Her? Who was he talking about. "Oh my gosh..." I leaned against the wall. He was going to hurt Anne for what I did. I glanced at Jev one last time before running down the stairs.

She has to be here somewhere. I opened the door to the nursery but she wasn't there. I tried the kitchen, the dinning room, the living room but no sight of Anne reached my eye. I was starting to worry. What if Cade did come, but took Anne? I turned around only to find Jev's cold dark eyes staring back at me.

"What is it Angel?"

"I need to find Anne. She's my friends and she could be in danger."

He nodded and walked back, rechecking all the rooms I went through, making sure I didn't miss anything. As I neared the back of the door, I heard a small whimper. "Anne?" I called out. "Anne can you hear me!?" As I turned the corner, I found the back door open. The whimpering got louder as I ran to the door. When I stepped outside, I saw the silhouette of a hunched figure and the outline of a rugged dress that gave it away. "Anne!" I screamed, running over to her. She looked terrible. Her hands where scrapped and her face was bruised. She had scratches almost everywhere. "He knows Catherine." She whispered. "He knows everything now. I don't know how-" "Hey it's okay." I smiled. "You're gonna be okay. Just stay with me." I laid my hand on her arm as my powers spread throughout her. "Flower gleam and glow, let your power shine, make the clock reverse, brig back what once was mine, what once was mine." I sang.

Her body began to glow a light blue and I watched as her scratches start to disappear. When I finished, she still looked terrible, with scratches and bruises but it was the best I can manage. When I looked back over to her, I realized she had fallen asleep. I chuckled and picked her up. She wasn't heavy but I wasn't used to carrying a person. I never expected to need to carry someone in the first place. When I rounded the corner I saw Jev. I lit my hand up a bright blue to get his attention. He was as scared as I was.

"Jev, I need you to do something."

"Anything."

"You need to take her away from the tower. As far into the woods as you can. I'll meet up with you and Anne soon."

"But Angel..."

"Just go please, she needs to be safe."

He nodded. Understanding what I was trying to say. He lifted her easily. And walked towards the back door. "Keep her safe." I said calmly. I didn't really trust him but I just needed Anne to be safe. "Angel, you act like you don't know me." In all honesty I didn't. I had only met him yesterday and yet here I was, giving him the closest thing I may ever get to call my mom.

After one last goodbye, he took off running and then soon disappeared into the darkness. I shut the door, careful not to let it slam and locked it. After that I ran to the front entrance and locked all three locks on the door. There. I locked all the doors to the tower. No one could get in now, except for Pitch. I knew I would be called out either way. So after checking all the doors one last time, I went back up to my room, and waited for my punishment to come.
