"My my, it sure does smell like sex in here," Malakai jolted awake at the sound of another males voice.

He scrambled to pull himself from where he nestled into Valencia, glancing up to see Doc standing in her kitchen.

Kai snarled but heard Val moan quietly at the disturbance. He stalled and began pulling her into his lap so he could cover her.

Doc looked at the pair, Kai was shirtless with scratches down his back. His red eyes lowered as he saw there was no threat, his hands cradling the smaller woman in his lap. The Nymph had marks on her neck and thighs from what he saw, she showed no signs of waking up as she clung to her mate.

"Stop looking at her," Kai grunted.

"When will you understand that Valencia is like a sister to me. A sister I never wanted. Even the thought-" Doc covered his mouth with two fingers, cheeks puffing out dramatically as he looked like he could vomit at the suggestion.

Kai relaxed but narrowed his eyes, he wasn't sure if he should be relieved or offended for his mate.

"So why're you here?"

"Hm mostly out of curiosity. I didn't think you had the guts to go through with the heat." Kai side glanced at the statement, knowing they hadn't completed the bond.

"And because I have information. That side kick Victor has was seen multiple times at a strip club on the other side of town. Valencia is familiar with the club, so I recommend you bring her. If they themselves aren't there, I have a man that you may be able to... persuade them to give you answers. The club owner would be in the room I wrote down in the file."

Doc slapped the papers down onto the coffee table.

And just as it sounded Kai's priorities began to shift back to his revenge. The entire reason he was in the city was to capture the threat to his family and make sure he stops breathing.

He glanced down at his mate who was currently drooling on his shoulder and sighed heavily.

"If I may give a piece of advice-"

"Please no-"

"Victor has already taken so much from you. Why let him take even more?"

Silence permeated the room as the Hound refused to look up.

"Well," Doc sighed. "I'll be on my way, tell Vally I said hello." He curtsied and vanished in a puff of smoke as usual.

For the next couple minutes Kai sat quietly, braiding his mates hair mindlessly. He was stuck in his thoughts until Valencia began twitching, signaling she was waking up.

She pulled away, strands of hair sticking to her mouth as she barely opened her eyes.

Kai couldn't fight the small smile on his face.

She groaned and flopped back onto the couch, her lower half still draped in his lap.

"It's not funny," she slurred.

"It's a little funny," he snickered as he rubbed her thighs.

He began standing and Val looked up at him expectantly.

"What do you want me to carry you too?"

She glared before sitting up, "No I want to talk about where we go from here."

He knew she was talking about their relationship but he didn't want to delve into it at the moment.

"Kai," she croaked as he turned his back to her. She reached for his hand and he sighed heavily.

"I don't want to keep having the same conversation."

"We haven't had any! You haven't contributed to any conversation about us. You were only nice to me yesterday because you were in heat," She slumped against the couch.

"That's not it," he shook his head quickly. "Valencia you have to believe me that's not it."

"You said you'd try last night," her lip wobbled.

"We... let me just- we have to be somewhere tonight. Doc gave us a location, lets focus on that for now."

Valencia snatched the file and read the location Kai watched hers eyes widen momentarily.

She sighed heavily and without another word she stood. "I'll be ready by tonight. Don't... don't fucking touch me in the mean time."

Kai watched her stomp away and dragged a hand roughly down his face. He sat heavily on the couch, "It'll be okay, we'll be okay." He reassured himself quietly.

"I'm going to finish this and we'll be okay. For now, don't get distracted," Kai whispered with obvious doubt in his tone. But he couldn't back down, not now and not with how much time he's slaved away at this goal.
