The girls had filtered into the Great Hall, after narrowly dodging large, red water-filled balloons dropped by Peeves the poltergeist that had soaked several second years, and they saw a drenched and spluttering Ron Weasley leaving small puddles as he walked.
As usual the train journey to Hogwarts had flown by in a flash but Eve had found her self slightly disappointed that she had not yet seen her favorite Weasley boy as she and Anna took their places at the Ravenclaw table.
She had fancied this particular boy since third year and had the biggest crush on him imaginable.
"Don't worry you'll be able to see him when we're all sat down." said her best friend after clearly reading the slight frown on Eve's lips.
Flushing bright red, Eve laughed as she pushed her curls out of her face with her hand, embarrassed that Anna had noticed her eyes scanning the large room.

The sorting ceremony was over almost as quickly as it had began and before long they found themselves surrounded by glorious piles of fresh food. Large mountains of chicken wings, crisp salad leaves, giant gravy boats and more mash potato piled onto a plate than you ever knew possible, lay on the table.
Next, they came face to face with mouth-watering puddings: cakes and sponges; souffles and mousses; jelly and ice cream and cheesecakes as big as your head.
"I heard Lee Jordan talking about some event that Hogwarts is hosting this year." Annabeth mentioned as she stuffed a spoonful of treacle tart into her mouth.
"God how are you still eating I feel like i'm having a food baby," Replied Eve rubbing her stomach, which made Anna laugh and spray custard over her bowl, "Do you know what kind of event?"
"Dunno, all I heard was something about two other schools and apparently its some really dangerous competition."
Evelyn and Anna continued to speculate over this mysterious event that would happen as the last crumbs of their desserts faded from their plates along with everyone else around them. Only the chatter of sleepy students filled with delicious food could be heard until Albus Dumbledore got to his feet.
He began to explain how the Quidditch house cup would not be taking place this year, which was met with grumbles and shouts of complaints from spectators and team members.
"This is due to an event that will be starting in October and continuing through out the school year, taking up much of the teachers' time and energy but I am sure you will all enjoy it immensely. I have great pleasure in announcing that this year at Hogwarts-"
But his speech was interrupted by a loud bang as the side door to the hall flung open, revealing a short, large man with an extremely unpleasant face. It was covered, every inch, in scars and old scratches. He shook his long dark grizzly mane of hair to get rid of some water droplets as the rain was now coming down incredibly fast with bolts of lightening illuminating the hall.
He trudged over to the headmaster in his thick clunky boots and black traveling coat and shook his hand. They exchanged some sort of friendly greeting and Dumbledore went to continue.
"May I introduce our new Defense against the Dark Arts Teacher," said Dumbledore brightly, into the silence, "Professor Moody."
Few students, nor teachers for that matter, met the professor's eyes as he sat down into a chair at the long table behind him. Evelyn noticed that one of his eyes wasn't even a real eye, she watched as his glass sphere spun around in its socket for a few seconds before locking on a student. She couldn't be sure as she was sat so far away, but she could have swore that student was Harry Potter.
