Paige stalked across the dance floor to the bar, and ordered a martini, leaning seductively against the counter top. Stares from men all around the room followed her, some from those with dates, some from those without. The red head smirked, knowing full well that they were staring, and enjoying every minute of it. She'd specifically dressed to attract their gazes, in fact; her long, toned legs, bright emerald eyes, and perfect figure were accentuated in the dark green dress she wore. It was skin tight, strapless and backless, and had a slit on the left side from her hip to the floor that left nothing to the imagination.

As the bartender set her drink down in front of her, he gave her a charming smile. "There you go." Her crimson lips curved into a alluring smile. "Thanks, babe." The super villian winked, before taking her glass and walking away to a place where she could get a better view of the floor. Loki had sent her to the gala with the task of intercepting a briefcase and 'putting it through a change of ownership' as he put it.

Basically, she was supposed to steal it, whatever it was, using any means necessary.

The only catch was that a certain Super Soldier was also there, and he had the same intentions. And so, Paige was to try and get it without attracting his attention. But of course, Paige was Paige, and so she obviously had to attract his attention.... That is, if it wasn't on her already.

She eased herself against the balcony railing of the second floor, her eyes searching dutifully for a man with a briefcase, and eventually narrowed it down to one man. "Bingo." In an almost bored manner, she pushed herself delicately off the railing and made her way downstairs, the target in her sights.

_______________

Steve nervously watched the dance floor, watching and waiting for the target. Fury had said that he'd be there, with a leather briefcase that contained the files. He was a rather vulgar man, and enjoyed women.

So, with this information in mind, Captain America knew that when he spotted a certain red headed woman making her way across the room with a determined look in her pretty eyes, she'd found the man and he himself was one step behind.

_______________

Emerald green high heels clicked on the wet black top as Paige made her way swiftly to the rendezvous point, briefcase safely in hand. Stepping easily over puddles and various articles of trash, she swiftly made a turn to the right and entered a dark alley way. "Nearly there..." She muttered under her breath.Suddenly she was bathed in a yellowish light.

"Stop right there, Pussycat."

Tilting her head to look behind her, she smirked at the sight before her; the handsome Steve Rogers stood in a tuxedo, holding a flashlight out to view his opponent better. Chuckling lightly, she turned around to face him, holding the case behind her, clasping both hands over the handle with a seductive smile. Gracefully, she slowly walked towards him until there was a mere five feet between them. "Why, hello there, Soldier. We meet again."

Steve lowered the flashlight's beam to the ground at her feet. "I guess so. I thought I told you to stay out of this; this battle is purely between Loki and SHIELD, and you don't need to be getting involved." Paige's laugh echoed through the street, feminine and dainty. "Oh, come on! You really think I'd listen to you? I outsmarted the God of Mischief; I think I can handle whatever SHIELD decides to throw my way." She inched closer, to where her face was inches from his. "What's more; why would I leave when it gives me a chance to see you, Darling?" She batted her long eyelashes at him, smiling as if she were innocent. Hah! She thought. Me, innocent... That's quite humorous.

The blonde man leaned down, resting his forehead on hers. "If you miss me so much, why don't you just join our side, Kitten?" His arms reached around her, as if to hug her, but instead reached for the case. "I don't think so, Sir." She slid away from him, walking backwards out of his grasp. "See, I can't afford to lose this case; my job is kinda on the line."

"Well, just more incentive to join my side." He countered. For a man out of his decade, he sure did know how to exchange witty banter.

"Hmm... Nah, I don't think so." she answered back. Glancing upwards, she found that the night sky was turning a murky shade of blue. "Looks like I've got to go, Cap. Though this has been fun, I assure you." Using her powers of mind control, Paige locked his body so he couldn't move to take the case again, and swiftly pressed herself against him. Placing a fiery kiss on his lips, she backed away once more, smirking. Though she wanted to spend more time with him, if she was out much longer it'd be suspicious and she couldn't afford to become overly attached. "Until we meet again, My Dear." Quietly she slipped into the shadows of the grimy alley, back to Loki and her life of manipulation. She only unfroze Steve when she was well out of reach.

_______________

Paige set the case down on the table in front of the God, her red tresses falling across her shoulders and back in loose waves. "As I promised, here's the case." Her pair of green eyes met his, and with a slight nod, Loki pulled another case from under the table. "And, as I promised."

Smiling triumphantly, she opened the case to see her favorite thing besides men; money. Lots and lots of it. "You definitely didn't skip out on me this time." She commented.

"How could I, Love? You've proved quite useful in the past. In more ways than one, I might add." He purred, lust clear in his eyes. As she watched him, she was calmly smiling at him, but inside her heart was aching for the first time in a while. And it was all thanks to Captain Steve Rogers.

Damn it.
