Cold. Dark. Serious. Untrustworthy. These were words everyone used to describe Ivy. No one ever bothered to get too close; she was the most powerful assassin anyone had ever seen, and that title doesn't usually lend itself to people who are fun to be around. Even though she was with SHIELD to a certain extent, she didn't actually work with them. She was focused on one thing.

Revenge.

Revenge for the murder of her parents. Revenge for causing her life to be so terrible, so hurtful, so hard. And because of this, she liked to keep to herself. No relations with anyone. That way she could focus on her work, and no one else would get hurt.

But there was one person who didn't seem to get it; Captain Steve Rogers.

He seemed to believe that Ivy wasn't a terrible person, or wasn't who she acted like, or something else. For whatever reason, he was always trying to get close, to be her friend. And, though she didn't want to admit it, it was starting to work. So, when he walked into the training room and sat to watch her as she practiced her archery, she was neither surprised nor angry about it.

She remained silent, though, not wanting to induce any personal connections on her own. "I'm pretty sure Clint wouldn't like finding out you're using his weaponry." The super soldier pointed out, a faint smile tracing his features. Her bright green eyes stayed trained on the center of the target as she let an arrow fly, missing the desired point of contact by an inch. "I don't think he'd like to get close enough to me when I have them to bring it up." She replied in her usual serious tone. Steve sighed. "Probably not. But I don't see why; you're nice enough." Ivy snorted. "Nice enough. Yeah, sure." She released another arrow, still missing the targeted area. Resisting the urge to swear, the short woman went to collect the arrows to try again. The blonde soldier walked to meet her at the target, reaching for some arrows himself, when the two's hands brushed against each other. Immediately both retracted their own hand, Steve blushing and Ivy trying to hide her own. "I was being serious; I know you're not who you pretend to be." With a shake of her head, she yanked the remaining arrows out of the bulls eye. "You don't know what you're talking about."

No longer feeling the desire to shoot anymore, she replaced the arrows into their sheath and hung them and the bow back on the rack that Clint kept them on. Without a further word to Steve, without a further glance, she left the room, leaving him alone.

"You know he does it because he likes you, right?" Ivy rolled her eyes, her nose still buried in her book. "Come on, Blight; he's not going to hurt you. He's Captain America for god's sake- the perfect gentleman." Clint was trying to push the subject, and Ivy was having none of it. He was the only thing she could consider a friend, and only because she knew he could take care of himself and wouldn't try to dissuade her from her plans for revenge. "It's not about that, and you know it. Even if it was, it wouldn't matter. He's exactly the kind of person that would try and stop me. Try and get in the way. Try and protect me instead of himself if something happens."

Clint cocked an eyebrow. "And that's a problem how?" With a huff, the young woman pushed her hair from her face. "Because that's exactly what I don't want; I don't want people to die for me, and I don't want to be told what I can or can't do. You of all people should know that." A pensive look crossed the archer's face as he remembered the first time they'd met; he'd been told to capture her, and bring her to headquaters. Seeing as she was so young, he'd thought it'd be an easy mission... That is, until he told her she had to come with him, and had no choice. She'd beaten the crap out of him in the process of trying to force her into cuffs. She almost slit his throat. Never again did he ever tell her what to do.

"Okay, fair point. But, I still think you should give him a shot. You're still young; don't make up your mind about who you want to be with quite yet." With that, the handsome Hawkeye shoved her shoulder in a friendly way as he exited the room.

Sitting on the couch, bored out of her mind, Ivy flipped through channels on the TV. Animal Planet, ABC Family, History Channel, HGTV, Food Network, and multiple channels she didn't even know existed. She'd searched for at least 15 minutes, and still found nothing. Throwing the remote down on the couch angrily, she leaned against the back of the couch, emerald eyes closed. "Are you okay?" Eyes now open, they met a familiar pair of blue ones. Steve. She sighed. "I'm fine." His gaze burning into her, she sat up and turned off the TV. An awkward silence filled the room for a moment, before the super soldier came to sit next to her. "So, erm, how's the search for the person who killed your parents going?" He asked awkwardly, his hand rubbing the back of his neck. "Okay, I guess. I've got a couple leads, but Fury doesn't like what I'm doing, and because he can't directly stop me, he's keeping me from using SHIELD's resources to check it out." Her usually serious voice now, somehow, seemed softer. Pulling her legs up to her chest, and resting her chin on her knees, Ivy grumbled. "No one would know about it. I'm smarter than that." The look on her face was sour, and she figured she probably looked like a pouting three-year-old.

"That's stupid. You should be able to get back at him."

"What?!" The youngest Avenger turned her head to look at the man who'd said the one thing she had never expected him too. Her voice was barely a whisper, but he still heard her.

"If someone did you wrong, usually I wouldn't encourage getting back. But, he killed your parents and caused you a life of pain and misery. He deserves to feel the same." His eyes were clouded with a dark hate, and Blight could only imagine what he was thinking of; losing his best friend, Bucky, being frozen in time and losing the woman he loved, the list went on and on for him.

It was then that she realized that maybe, just maybe, they weren't so different. Just two sides of the same coin.

"I expected you to be one of the people who tries to stop me- this is rather unexpected." She watched his muscular shoulders move in a shrug. "I expected you to push me away like everyone else."

"Good point."

More silence surrounded them. It was once again broken by Steve.

"I want revenge on Schmidt. And, sometimes, on Dr. Erskine for making me like this."

Ivy kept quite; this was information she'd guessed, but that had never been told to anyone.

"But, most of all, I want revenge on the woman that stole my heart, and won't give it back."

The woman smiled, almost with pity, at him. She thoroughly believed he was talking about the beautiful Peggy Carter, the woman he'd loved but never been able to have. "What kind of revenge would you want to get?" She pulled her blue sweater sleeves down over her hands as she moved her legs to stretch on the ground. The Captain remained silent, and when she turned her head to make sure he was okay, his lips crashed into hers. Overcome with a feeling that told her to kiss back, she responded. But, reality came back to her, and her oath to herself not to get attatched to anyone with it. She pushed him away, but was olny able to move his lips of hers because he was so strong. His face hovered in front of hers, both of their breathing quiet and uneven. "What are you doing?!" Her green eyes looked into his, even though she knew they held all the feelings for him she'd wanted to push away. A small smile crossed his handsome face.

"Getting revenge."
