It took every ounce of my being to get up and go downstairs the next morning. I just wanted to forget all of this ever happened and go back to normal.

I walked into the kitchen to see my father sitting at the table with a steaming mug of coffee, he looked like he had been waiting for me.

"Where's mom?" It was rare for her to leave the house before I'd woken up. As mad as I was with her about last night, I still wanted to make sure we were okay.

Dad sighed, gripping his mug with both hands and staring into his drink. "Your mother... we thought it was probably a good time for you to get your own place... um.. to live."

I didn't know how to react to that statement. Obviously dad had nothing to do with this decision. She wanted me gone? Is she serious? She didn't even have the decency to do it herself, she sent dad to do her dirty work which made it so much worse.

"I... what?" I was still trying to mentally process the fact that I was being kicked out.

"Your mother made some calls last night and got you a really nice space in the Central apartment building, really close to medical."

Wow, so she wanted me gone but she still wanted to keep an eye on me. The apartment building in Central was owned by Protection, a lot of their recruits live there. That's probably how she was able to swing me a room so quickly. If she wanted me out that bad then fine, I'm gone.

"Okay, but I need to pack up my stuff... when is it ready, how long do I have?" I mentally created a list of all of the things I needed to gather. The majority of it was in my room at least but it would definitely be a few trips.

"Oh, yeah don't worry about that. Your mother made you up a bag of the essentials." He gestured to the dark blue duffle bag that was sitting next to the front door.

"The apartment is ready for you now... I'll be by with the rest of your things in a few days." He smiled but I could tell he was hurting just as much as I was. Dad was sensitive, and he knew this was wrong, even if he had no clue what the issue was about.

"Wow... okay then. I guess I'll get going." I got up and walked past my father. I couldn't bring myself to hug him before I left. None of this felt real yet, I had to keep telling myself that it was actually happening. After I left, I would probably never step foot in my childhood home again.

I slung the large duffle over my shoulder and began walking, I couldn'tbring myself to look back. If Dad was standing in the door way I'm not sure I'd be able to keep my composure.

Do you ever get so lost in thought, you forget how you ended up at your destination? Before I knew it I was at the door to my new apartment building and I had no recollection of how I had gotten there.

I buzzed the door and told the automated feminine voice that I was moving in today. As the doors slid out of the way I took a moment to look around. It was so modern, and high tech. Everything was clean and placed so purposefully. It reminded me of medical in that way, nothing ever in disarray.
