"YOU'RE OUT NEARLY everyday, dear, why don't you spend one with your sweet ol' parents?" Fleamont Potter jokes from behind the newest print of the Daily Prophet."I've been soaking up my last summer as a boy, father, what more can you ask from me?" James teases right back.
"I can ask for more, perhaps a brunch with your mother?" Euphemia throws out there.
James smiles, then automatically begins to feel bad. He had been spending so much time with Juliet, that he seemed to be neglecting nearly everyone else - especially his parents.
So, with that in mind, he insists on a Potter family brunch (including Sirius, once James was able to drag him out of bed).
The four now sit at a rather large cafe, one that James only ever goes to with his family. His mother and father order crepes, while he and Sirius both stick to a muffin and some coffee.
"So, can we expect another Quidditch Cup win for Gryffindor this year?" Fleamont questions, beginning to cut his crepe into tiny pieces.
"Oh, you can expect it all right, Fleamont. Especially with James as the captain, I dont see how we could possibly lose." Sirius says.
Just as James was about to speak to Sirius' point, he spots an all to familiar face walking down the street, her hair tied back with a white ribbon so her face could be seen fully.
Juliet had spotted James at the same time he spotted her. She smiled and waved to him, though James did not smile and wave back. Instead, he grew nervous. His parents had no clue about Juliet - more specifically, no clue she knew everything.
"Juliet!" Sirius shouts, beckoning her over to the table. She laughs and walks over, giving James an odd look before saying hello.
"Oh, are you a friend from school?" Euphemia asks, as she shakes Juliet's hand.
"No, unfortunately not. I attend Uni in the city." She smiles.
Euphemia and Fleamont glance at each other, before returning their gaze to Juliet. Fleamont then smiles warmly.
"Why don't you sit down and join us?"
And Juliet does so happily. James covers his face with his hand so only Juliet could see him.
"Pretend you know nothing about us being wizards." He whispers, earning an eye roll followed by a laugh from Juliet.
Just like that, things became easy again. Juliet brought sunshine and laughter to the small table and Euphemia and Fleamont quickly came to adore her.
If only she were a witch, James thinks to himself, if only times were a tad bit different.
