The side of my face is plastered against my pillow when there's a soft knock on the door. Thinking it's Harry again, I mumble an "I'm fine, go away," before the door knob is turned and my door swings open. I break my gaze away from the wall and quickly scramble to sit up when Nicole appears at the doorway, her hands fiddling with the hem of her shirt.
"Oh, it's you." I pause, scrutinizing her with narrowed eyes. "I'm busy, can't talk right now." I don't wait for a response as I flip back on my stomach and hug the pillow to my face.
"Kaydence I'm sorry." Nicole says before her feet are shuffling their way to my bed, and I'm mentally hoping she doesn't sit down.
"It won't be that big of a deal if they come with us, you don't have to tell them anything." The bed sinks, and I roll my eyes at my pillow.
"Please talk to me."
I lay here a moment, silently praying that she'll just get up and leave, but I know Nicole. She'll sit here all day and night until I decide to talk to her, and I would like to get up and eat at some point.
I sigh. "It wasn't your call to make."
"I know but it was all of them against us, it wouldn't have made a difference what we wanted they would have still shown up."
"So it has nothing to do with Niall?" I find myself saying and I can tell I caught her off guard by the long pause I get before she answers.
"What? That's ridiculous." Her voice is unsteady. She's lying.
I sit up so fast that I startle Nicole, making her almost fall off my bed. "So you do have a thing for him."
Her eyes are wide and her mouth is hanging open. "Kay, no. I don't l-"
"You are a terrible liar, you know." Her silence fills the room and her cheeks turn scarlet the longer I stare at her. Part of me wants to tease her but I'm still angry.
"If you like him it's not a big deal but you didn't need to use this trip as a way to get closer to him."
"That's not what I was doing!" She shouts as she stands, and I'm aware of the voices that were coming from the living room have ceased.
"It doesn't matter now, I'm just saying if you like him? Cool. Just don't ruin this trip any more than you have already." I can tell I've hurt her feelings when her shoulders slack down and by the frown forming on her face.
"I'm not trying to ruin it, I'm sorry."
I wave my hand to dismiss the conversation and lie back in my bed, letting my hair fall over the edge of it as Nicole fiddles with her fingers, her lips pressed firmly together.
"So are we good...?" She hesitates and I look up to meet her unsure eyes, narrowing mine at her before rolling them.
"Of course we are. I'm just annoyed with life, you know?"
"Yes, I understand."
I sigh and close my eyes as I hear Nicole stand up from my bed, her feet padding around my room. The legs of the chair in front of my desk scrapes across the floor, then creaks as I assume Nicole has sat down in it. My head is buzzing and I faintly hear the boys talking through the other side of the door, Louis' laugh is the most noticeable and for a brief moment I'm curious to know why their laughing.
"So I have a question." Nicole pipes from the other side of the room, and I open my eyes to see her staring at me with a hopeful expression on her face.
