Author's POV:
Y/N was heading towards the main town and for the first time she can see how much had her place turned into a beautiful one. She found that the trees which were left naked during the day, some which were even missing some part of their barks were also wearing beautiful coloured ribbons with some lavender flowers. Small ponds that were left alone were now filed with those beautiful lamps and boats. Places that were only filled with the smell of the dust in the air during day were driven away by the pleasant smell of those lavender which were hugging the barren trees. The darkest corner of the streets were filled with light, not only light but with colourful lights emerging from all those beautifully designed lamps. For Y/N, it seems to be another world in her view since from her young age itself she was burdened with her responsibility to the extent as if she was forbidden from knowing the real world around her.
Y/N took a long relaxing breath, closing her eyes, her both arms stretched and hugging those empty space but with those hugging air. "That's what feels like living," she smiled. After opening her eyes she can see many people of the village who seemed to look too old from their age during day as the result of working hard under those hot scorching sun, now seemed to appear much more younger then what they were after wearing those beautiful designer dresses and with smiles with their brighter teeth.
Y/N started walking down those streets enjoying every view, smiling from ear to ear but she was not aware of people staring at her. Every passer by were mesmerised with this young lady's beauty except for the way she walked. Y/N was not trained to walk like those elegant women nor she even walked like a common lady. Her every step seemed to look like those dominant steps like a young man does. Holding her Gayageum case ( old Korean Guitar Bag), people at first expected her to be a higher rank lady but her way of walking, let people have doubt on their thoughts and lest she didn't even noticed peoples attitude towards her but was too focused on what were available in the street.
After checking out seven stalls, and when she was about to check on another stall. She felt a bump down from her waist level at her back. She knew something bumped her and fell down after bumping her and turned back to check on it. She saw a little girl around age of six has fallen down on the ground. She bended to the girl's level and tried to get her up. After helping her, Y/N noticed two puffy eyes which was sure due to crying. Y/N felt sad for the girl like when everyone in the place were filled with joy and laughter, the little one was crying hard until her eyes puffed.
Y/N then asked her about why she was crying. "Ah...(hiccup)Ah...(hiccup)Appa is selling my hairpin," the girl confessed while crying "Please help me get it, Eomma gave me and she left us going to heaven" now the girl was bursting with tears but Y/N noticed that no one around here was concern on this little girl's cry. Thus, Y/N promised herself that she will get the hair pin at any cost. "Where is your father?" Y/N was ragging with anger while thinking which kind of father drag himself that down to sell his own daughter's thing given by her late mother even after the daughter was crying her throat out, but Y/N made sure that she spoke softly to the girl.
Y/N POV
That's why I have trust issue when people get married and gave birth. The children are left without any care when one of the parent dies or leaves. I followed the girl who was now directing me to her father. After certain minutes of walk a stall was visible at five meters ahead of us. The girl pointed to the stall and mentioned that the person running that stall was her father. I was not able to see her father since the stall was filled with many customer, majority were woman standing and like only two of the customer were men and they were sitting on a chair, everyone facing their back to us. Without thinking I directly rushed between those coward and banged my hand on the only wooden table available in front not giving damn about the stares around me.
I just picked the girl up and placed her on the table and asked about her hairpin. "Unnie that's my hairpin," the girl smiled brightly. I can see a jade hairpin which was well placed at the top of all other things as if it was the most treasured thing in the stall. (Pic of the Jade):
"Give that hairpin back to this little girl," I tried to speak calmly but it got in vain when the stall owner (father of the little girl) mentioned that the hairpin is sold on auction and everybody present here were bidding for it. " Then tell me the price of last bidding," I asked the owner. "The last bidding was of 250 gold," the man was smiling with a smirk for his price but his smirk got replaced by shock when I told my price " I will pay 500gold for the pin," I can hear some cheers from behind but mostly the girls were cursing at the back, guess that they had there eyes on it but I will never give up on it since I got 700 gold with me, keeping me at advantageous side.
"500 gold 1, 500 gold 2..."the count was going on and soon I would get what I wanted and I can see the little girl jumping happily beside me. I heard girls whining of losing that pin to me and can hear them pouting to those man to get them the hair pin that they desired but guess they won't be able to beat my price "500 gold nin.....," "800 gold," I heard a man bid for the hairpin and making me shook by the price and the thought of not able to complete my promise made me freeze. I turned back to see on who just tried to stop me from getting my thing from me, even after when people present at that moment can see how desperate I was for that pin. I wanted to beat that rich basterd up but another surprise shook me when I saw the bidder's face.
----------------------------------------------------Next Chapter-----------------------------------------------------------
"Since you are filthy rich , I won't be in a position to challenge you in terms for the price for this hairpin," I can see now that she was giving up on the bidding but not for hairpin. "Since only two of you are man here, why not set a challenge like a man. One of you can volunteer on having arrow shooting competition with me. We will have three rounds and the winner of the maximum number of rounds will get the hairpin." She was smirking at me, wow at me and to me. How dare she, I will show her the bitterness of her own medicine. " Challenge accepted my lady."
Who do you think the bidder will be? Please comment Below :)
