Yoongi had had about four hours of sleep. When he had arrived from his drive back from Seoul, he had found the other two in the bedroom and hence had settled on the couch instead. It was an uncomfortable place to spend a night. The leather was throwing his body heat back at him in an uncomfortable way and the blanket failed at doing so. He wondered how Jimin and Taehyung had been able to get a good rest. It was probably due to sharing their body heat or it would have been just as bad as his experience.
Thus, happy to leave the couch behind, he had decided to make breakfast. He had put the left-over rice from the cooker into the frypan with a ton of sugar and was fileting oranges when the bedroom door opened to reveal two sleepy men in pajamas.
"Welcome home," Taehyung rumbled and sat down at the kitchen table. Jimin stayed quiet. Yoongi too.
They ate in silence and only when the cop began to put away the dishes into the sink for washing, Taehyung spoke up. "I fished for affiliates of the architecture company in China and Japan," he disclosed, rubbing and hand over his face to wake up further. Apparently, fucking the duckling was not the only thing he had been up to. "Found a company that sells all kinds of stones in Shandong Province and a seller for imported woods in Osaka."
"Shandong?" Jimin asked before Yoongi could ask what Taehyung thought those companies were.
They both turned to look at the cop.
"I..." Jimin stuttered and swallowed nervously before he looked at Yoongi. "Your apartment is subleased from someone who works in Shandong," he revealed. "We... my team found that out while tailing you." He looked like he expected Yoongi to jump at him with a knife in the next second.
But all Yoongi did was clenching his jaw and scolding himself internally for not having noticed that they had been after him even before Jimin marched into his life. "What do you think those companies are?" he asked Taehyung, ignoring Jimin's input.
"Subbranches," the tech replied, also averting his thoughtful gaze away from the cop. "Think about it. It's unlikely that we have hitman companies everywhere. Your kills are high-profile. I alone have five hitman who're constantly running around. I hand out around three to seven targets per month. Can't tell me that's just Korean businessmen dying. We'd have no businessmen anymore at this point." He looked at Yoongi as if to challenge him to disagree, but Yoongi found himself convinced by that. "What you need abroad 's someone who hauls in foreign deals and cleans up after you, and now that I think about it, someone who can receive smuggled goods without being suspicious. No one looks into a fucking expensive rare woods or stone transport."
He paused for a moment to furrow his brows. When they snapped up in a motion of understanding, Yoongi's back straightened as well in curiosity. "This 's brilliant actually!" the techy said. "The stones and woods company bring in the foreign deals by pretend sells of... don't know, overprized tables or stuff like that, and they use Changjung Shipping for their deals with the architecture office. That's money laundry at its finest. The deal money flows to Korea via expensive shipping fees."
Yoongi once again felt his respect for the organization growing. Whoever was responsible for this was a damn mastermind. He felt proud. But then he realized what those news meant and his mood deflated. "So we need to check their contractors as well?" he asked. They had been doing so well within their own country, but now they had to dig into Japan and China, too?
"No," the tech shook his head and laughed pained. "That's too much to ask of us. Also, I can't read Chinese for the life of me. No chance I'm digging into their shit."
"So we'll just leave it be?" Yoongi asked, half amused at Taehyung's outbreak, half baffled that the tech was not interested in bringing down all of it. Yoongi was capable of some Chinese and Japanese after all, so they could at least try.
