I awoke to bright rays of sunlight falling through a slit in the curtains. For a moment I didn't know where I was but then I remembered our journey to Hogwarts the previous day. I left my bed, grabbed my uniform and went to the bathroom not wanting to disturb the other girls sleep. I took a long shower to fully wake up and brushed my teeth. When I returned to my room the other girls were awake as well changing into their school robes or packing their things.

Marlene and I decided to wait in the common room for Katy who unfortunately slept in another room. She still looked a bit sleepy when we left through the portrait hole. She probably was not much of a morning person.

Before we could enter the great hall someone called my name. I turned around to see my brother approaching me, so I gave the girls a look that they should go ahead.

He hugged me and sighed, ''I missed you.''

''It was just one night, you know that?''

''Yeah yeah, I know. Im just a little sad that you're not in my house but Im also proud of you. And I hope you dont feel too lonely,'' he said.

''The girls on the train got also sorted into Gryffindor so I already have some friends and the redheaded Twins, to whom you betrayed me,'' I said in an accusing tone, are one year above me I think. Im just a bit worried about mums and dads reaction when they find out.''

''We dont have to tell them yet so just enjoy your time and don't get caught when you prank someone.''

I smiled at him and we parted to sit down at our house tables. I piled my plate with scrambled eggs and baked beans.

''McGonagall just gave us our time schedules, heres yours,'' Katy said and handed me a piece of parchment.

''Okay, so first we have double Potions, then Charms and Transfiguration,'' I stated.

''That doesnt seem too bad, Im so excited,'' Marlene said.

We finished lunch and headed down to the dungeons, where our first and second lesson would take place. I sat down in the second row next to Marlene and Katy sat behind us next to the Collins boy who fell into the lake the previous day.

The potions teacher, Professor Snape didn't seem too bad at first just a bit numb but halfway through class he had already deducted 30 house points from Gryffindor for little things like talking or sneezing. The Slytherins on the other hand could do whatever they wanted. I understood my brothers words about Snape favoring Slytherin.

I was glad that I got partnered up with Marlene to brew a cure for boils. We both stayed focused and had an excellent outcome, that snape couldn't really say anything negative about so he just said nothing. Katy hadn't much luck with her partner. They somehow managed to turn their potion yellow instead of blue how it was supposed to be. But at least their cauldron didnt explode like the one from another pair did.

After Professor Snape dismissed the class we walked to charms. Professor Flitwick was unlike Snape a kind teacher. He stood on a big pile of books behind his desk because he was about half of my height.

''Today were learning about the levitation spell. It is easy charms work and used to make objects fly,'' he explained. ''Please repeat the incantation after me Wingardium Leviosa''

''Wingardium Leviosa,'' the class repeated.

''Excellent,'' Flitwick stated. ''Now watch the wand movement swish and flick.''

I repeated the familiar wand movement along with the other students.

''And now try to put both together and levitate the feather on your desk.''
