Rain on My Parade

The song Mr. Bombastic began to play, faintly humming from somewhere in front of me. Biggie Cheese coughed. "Excuse me," He apologized before pulling something out of one of his fat rolls. It was a phone with a case made of gold. It looked and smelled like cheddar and swiss cheeses.

I motioned that it was okay for Mr. Cheese to take his call. He walked over to the corner of the room and began chattering to whoever was on the other end. I saw a frown drag at the corners of his mouth, and his voice dropped to a whisper before hanging up. He turned to me,any trace of his earlier sadness gone from his face.

"Sorry darling, our encounters will have to wait. We will schedule our first date soon, but for now here is a little... something something... for you to look over." Biggie Cheese licked his lips and sauntered out of the door that I had come in. I noticed that there was a packet of yellow paper on the table before me. I sighed and folded it in half so it would fit into my purse.

I cursed myself for getting my hopes up. Of course he was busy! He probably had twenty other girls in his driveway right now, I thought. He didn't need me.

I called Jeselle to lift my spirits.

"Hello?" Jeselle's accent was prominent tonight, the way it got when she was nearly blackout drunk.

"Jeselle? It's me, (y/n). My date just ended."

"Ohhh! How did it go, muchacha?!" She was yelling to keep over the noise of the crows behind her.

"Not great. He took a phone call and left."

"Oh, what a cobarde. I'm sorry, honey! Would you like to come with me?!" Jeselle's words were slurred together.

"I don't have a car. Besides, where even are you?"

"I'm trashing Medieval Moonlight Madness with Kat! We got like," Jeselle paused to giggle, "really drunk though."

"Kimberly is going to have your head for not doing your job tomorrow, Jeselle." I warned.

"So what? She's always mad! And just get an uber here, muchacha!"

"No thanks. Hey, stay safe out there, kay? If the medieval bitches find you..."

"I know, I know~ Go have some fun for once, (y/n), and stop worrying!"

"Bye, Jeselle. Tell Bella, Heather, and Gwen that I say hi."

"Bye bye, (y/n)! Sure will!"

I sighed and put my phone back in my bag. I called my sister, who drove me home, and I opened up a bottle of red wine to drink while watching some stupid soap opera.
