Riley awoke to the smell of peppermint, while lying on a small bed, that she did not recognize as her own. She then started to remember the night before. The woman holding the gun was the last thing she remembered before she had squeezed her eyes shut in fear, while the gun was being raised. Now, Riley had a strong sting on her left cheek. As she reached up to feel it, she winced in pain. A bruise had formed, she was sure of it.

Just then, the door on the other side of the room swung open wildly, hitting the wall loudly. Riley jumped, and jerked her head in the door's direction.

"Who are you?" Riley asked almost right away. The woman slowly walked closer to Riley.

"I'm Jeniffer, but I prefer Jen," the woman repkied.

"Why am I here?" Riley asked.

"Because you were there last night, and most likely overheard my conversation last night, I took you here so you wouldn't blab every detail," Jen answered sternly.

         "When can I go home?"

"I'm afraid you can't go home to stay. You will be staying with us until we can trust you not to tell our secret."

        "Who's 'us'?" Riley asked confused.

"You ask too many questions, 'us'  is refering to the people I work with known as Dragon Scars," Jen answered annoyed, "My turn to ask the questions. What should we call you?"

Riley hesitated to answer, but finally replied, "Riley, and can I ask one more question?"

"Just one, then we have to go," Jen said impatiently.

"What will I do here?" Riley asked quite interested.

"I'm going to teach you how to fight," Jen replied.
