D-1.
Tomorrow was the school dance. Yet here you were, lying around in class, with no partner to be found. And honestly, you have been prolonging the thought of it.
Maybe you could just pull something off your sleeve last minute. You hated spontaneous decisions, but this seemed to be the least important thing on your plate at the moment.
Aside from the thought of the school dance, your mind was swarmed with other different responsibilities such as several upcoming tests and unfinished projects.
Sigh. The sad reality of being a part of the student council.
You were in class, eyeing the clock eagerly as you silently huffed in your seat. At the corner of your eye, you notice a familiar face.
Jungwon?
There seemed to be two choices at that moment: 1) you either let him wait for your class to end or 2) you rise from your seat right now and walk over to him to ask what was wrong. What seemed to be the most rational choice in this predicament was the former option, but were you going to listen? Hell no.
Before you could even rationalize with yourself, you deliberately rise from your seat and excuse yourself. Walking over to the teen, you notice a weird energy radiating off him.
"What do you want?" You inquire, crossing your arms while slightly leaning your back even further towards the walls.
Jungwon's face is laced with panic and concern, making your heart internally speed up in anticipation. Your lips stay pursed, waiting for the words to spill out of his lips.
"The dean just pulled me out of class to inform me that the time for the school dance has been moved." And upon hearing that, you take a deep breath. Trying your best to seem nonchalant, even though you were so close to combusting at this point.
You stay silent, urging him to continue. "Rather than the afternoon, it'll be held in the morning."
Honestly, your mind is blank. Your mouth could barely form a formal response as you could feel yourself edging closer to the brink of insanity.
"Why was the time moved?" Uttering those words, you try to recollect your thoughts.
Jungwon shrugs in response, "The dean didn't tell me much. Just that important guests needed to come over to do an inspection in the afternoon, and it'll last until dusk."
"I'll need most of you to stay after school." You sigh in exasperation. "We have to call a bunch of people, I guess."
Both of you heave a sigh.
You thought that the suffering was over, but it seemed that hell was just beginning to break loose.
Upon hearing the news, almost all of the student council members willingly stay. Which was a sigh of relief for you, because you were frankly expecting them to leave you in the mud.
They really are reliable, I guess.
A few more hours into it, you find yourself losing awareness of time, and before you even realize it — the sun was already setting.
You feel a slight tap on your shoulder. Turning around, you meet glances with Sunoo. "Yes, do you need help with something?"
He shakes his head and reveals a small beverage from his grasp. "Here."
Sunoo quickly catches on to your perplexed expression and follows it up with these next words. "Someone wanted me to give this to you, so don't waste their lunch money and drink it."
"Who?" You pester.
He rolls his eyes and goes for your wrist, placing the drink flat on your palm.
Banana milk. Huh.
"You don't want to tell me who it is?" You repeat, curiosity bubbling at the back of your mind.
Sunoo retorts. "It's not like I don't want to, I'll get strangled by him if I do." He wears a knowing look, and you just know that you wouldn't be able to force an answer out of him.
Whatever, what you don't know won't kill you.
Unbeknownst to you, the teen quickly trudges away and approaches his friend far-off your peripheral vision.
"Okay, I gave it to her." Sunoo laughs, simultaneously shaking his head. "You better stop being such a coward because this is the last time I'm ever going to do something for you."
Ni-ki then rolls his eyes at his friend's words. "Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Thank you."
His words may seem nonchalant and composed, but his flushed cheeks portray otherwise.
The day ends quicker than you expected, and from so much exhaustion you just jump straight into the warm covers of your bed, not even bothering to set an alarm for the following day.
