epilogue.
— a year later.
It was a peaceful night at your place, until someone arrived.
You hear a series of abrupt knocks on your bedroom door, followed along with a specific teen's head peeking in your room. "How is my favorite dumbass doing?" Ni-ki says, a sweet smile on his face.
"My back hurts and I ultimately feel like the angels are singing their welcoming song to the gates of heaven." A groan slips its way out of your lips, as you ultimately try to stretch your poor back.
The teen walks in and pats your head. "Ah, so it's those days." Ni-ki sighs as he takes a seat beside you. "Does my honey munchkins need some help?"
"No, and you're disgusting." And a laugh bursts out from the teen's mouth.
"That's not a very nice thing to say to your boyfriend." He muses, feigning a hurt expression.
"Well, too bad." You shrug, then focusing your attention towards the screen in front of you. "Now go away, I still have this essay I need to turn in by next week."
Ni-ki leans his head on your shoulder, reminding you of the time when he used your shoulder as a headrest during that trip. You internally shudder at the memory and quickly tip his head away.
"Why is my girlfriend such a smartie two shoes?" He says, lightly swatting your hand away and forcibly keeping his head planted on your shoulder.
You shake your head, "It's goody two shoes, you dimwit." And continue your statement. "At least I'm not like you, who crams hours before a deadline is due."
"Whatever." He dismisses, and then takes an interest in your cheeks. Before you even know it, his finger is constantly pinching and pressing on them.
You direct your gaze to him, a blank expression painting your face. "Stop it." But that doesn't stop him, he keeps on going until he notices that you have started giving him the cold shoulder.
Ni-ki at first laughs, but when he realizes that you still haven't snapped out of your act, he quickly turns his head to your direction. "Wait, you're really mad?"
Still no response.
The only thing he could merely think of was to do something that could catch you off guard. So, he quickly leans in and gives you a small peck on the cheek, rendering you speechless.
He chuckles at your flustered expression. Got ya.

– [ NI-KI ] .
I wish my eyes were a camera lens, so I could capture every moment I have with you, and look back at them when I miss it. I don't want it to wander in the back of my mind, slowly fading away into a distant memory.
I know they say that those kinds of memories will never falter, and that my heart will always remember it, but it's different from a photo.
When I look back at a photo, I know that's where your smile will never vanish. "A picture tells a thousand words," they say, but the only thing I'm sure of from those thousands of words is that – your smile is my most favorite sight in the world. And I'll never get tired of it.
I can't wait to see what I'll love about you even more tomorrow, or discover more sides of you that I didn't know yet.
The first time I saw you, I remember seeing your body shake uncontrollably, as you tried to hold in the tears that kept falling from your eyes. I felt pity for you, and somehow eventually gathered the courage to hand you a handkerchief of mine. Yet along with that kind gesture, I ended up saying a few insensitive things and incited a peculiar rivalry between us.
It's amusing to think that we have now ended up this way. From spurring out insults, starting random arguments and shooting each other dirty looks to now this.
But do I regret any of it? Hell no.
FIN.
