A few weeks later

"How's the house looking?"My mom asked me

I leaned against the kitchen counter.

"Pretty good.They're just finishing up.Should be ready for when I move in."I explained

She nodded."Good."

She stared at me for a moment.

"What?"I asked

"I want to hear about her."She said

"Vanessa?"I asked

"Mhm."She nodded

I slightly smiled.

"She's great.I mean..she's super emotionally intelligent.Our communication is great.She..gets my anxiety and helps me through it too."I said

"That's great honey.I'm so happy for you."She grabbed my hand

"Thanks ma.I'm really happy."I said

"Your sister sent me an article...there were photos of her-

"Ma."I sighed

"Im happy that you're happy Chris.I really am but..I don't think that's someone you can have a serious relationship with.She's-

"A human being.She did some things when she was younger that she regrets.That's not for you or anyone else to judge."I told her

"I get that you like her Chris but this is not the kind of woman you should be with.She was a stripper for christ sakes!"She groaned

"There's plenty of women here in Boston that would be perfect for you.You need someone that can become a stay at home mother and take care of the home while you work."She said

"You've gotta be kidding me."I shook my head

"Why are you saying this?I just told you how happy I was and this is what you have to say?"I asked

"I just want what's best for you."She said

"She is what's best for me."I informed

She huffed."Alright Chris.Just be careful."

I stared at her silently.

"I should go."I said

"Really?!"She called as I walked away

"Really."I yelled back, walking out of the front door

I got into my car, started it and sat in silence for a few minutes.

"Fuck."I groaned

I called Vanessa.

"Hey love."She said

"Hey baby."I said lowly

"What's wrong?"She asked quickly

"Just miss you."I said

"I miss you too.But you'll be home tomorrow and we can cuddle and watch Disney movies alll night long."She offered

I smiled."You're the best."

"Yeah I know."She giggled

"Dodger giving you any trouble?"I asked

"No he's just fine.I sent you a couple pictures earlier.We went to the dog park and he made a few friends.Didn't you honey?"She asked him

I could hear him huff and a laugh from her followed.

"Im glad to hear that."I said

"How's the house?Everything ready?"She asked
