(I've been much, MUCH too excited to write this that I just can't wait to post it. I won't be giving a specific timeline/schedule for this story, because based on its mature rating, I want to get it perfect in terms of how it's written, and how gritty/intense it will be. BUT.

I want to give everyone a taste. Because I'm eternally grateful for everyones comments, reads, likes and follows. Also, Dark Sun reached 20,000 views today, and I still can't believe it :"3

So, without further ado, here is chapter one!

*Please note, I've rated this entire story Mature due to its graphic nature and depictions of death, suffering and violence. Read at your own risk!*

"Goro, Akechi."

I shook the hand of the producer as she held out a coffee to me; dark roast with one sugar.

"Pleased to meet you, Goro-kun." The young producer, not a day older than 31, met my eyes, then quickly turned away self consciously. Clearly she felt intimidated by me, for some reason.

"You're popularity has been skyrocketing this year; my management team has been hounding me to get a hold of you for months!"

I took the coffee from her with a candid smile to formally accept her kind gesture. With a quick sip, I broke into a soft laugh amongst her own haughty, albeit, nervous, giggles.

"I appreciate the time and patience you've had in reaching me. I receive many calls each day for interviews, and often have to turn them down because of my work."

I was being completely honest. The Japanese police department kept me constantly busy with small-time crimes, such as theft, break and enters, fraud, and drug crimes. Despite being in my last year of high school, I'd been working at the police station for a good year and a half now, and had risen in my ranks from volunteer, to intern, to part time bookkeeper, to (finally), petty-crime detective. It took alot, and I mean alot of time to convince the head of the police department, Sae Niijima, to put me on the squad.

But now, I'd been working as a highschool Ace Detective for 8 months, and was proving my abilities more and more every day. Sae-san was constantly spouting how proud she was of my work.

As well, at this point, just as Chiharu-san had explained, my diligent work on all these small crimes was giving me tons of traction. I was actually starting to receive fan mail in my mailbox at my apartment, and I had hoards of people recognizing me when I walked down the street. I had to admit, yes it was absolutely flattering.

But the popularity wasn't something I prioritized. The cases, and chasing down their leads so I could solve them...

That's what took my heart away.

"Ofcourse, Goro-kun. Based on the findings of our reps, we are estimating between 1 million and 3 million viewers just for this segment alone. You may only be 18, but you are a celebrity-force to be reckoned with!"

Chiharu-san's words struck me as almost too much. I had to avert my eyes from her bright smile and short brown hair as she walked in tandem with me down the hallway towards the makeup and hair department.

I understand you're excited. My popularity as the Ace Detective has become quite staggering. But....

This is just getting a little embarrassing now.

"I will do what I can to impress the viewership." I nodded frankly and paused at the end of the hall as we came to a door with a gold nameplate that read "Goro Akechi, 9am."
