"Hahahaha...."

When....

When was it...?

CHNNGGG!

A blinding flash and the shattering sound of glass began ringing in my ears. Another shadow thrust forward and dove towards me, feral and menacing and writhing for blood -

I snapped my fingers. Robin Hood was at my side -

I hardly flinched. The battle was over.

My thoughts shifted once more, as if the shadows that interrupted me at my feet didn't even matter.

When was it? When was the last time I truly, legitimately, wondered about Ren...?

When was the last time I questioned...what his Palace would truly be like, if he ever had one?

CHNNNG!

I threw forth my hand, calling Robin to me once more. In the blink of an eye, he chained his attacks, smouldering the flames of rebellion and incinerating my foes.

The battleground disappeared. I threw my head back as my brain continued to spin. My thoughts quieted for just a moment.

I couldn't see it, but I could feel my breath coming out of me in heavy, feverish waves. The heat of my skin, and the severity of the hole in my back, was already zapping my energy and shaking the rationality of my thoughts. A quiet nagging was tugging at me, telling me there had to be something brandished on that knife that Ren struck me with and burrowed a hole in my back -

There was no way I'd come down with a fever so quickly.

But that wasn't important now. I let the question slip from my mind.

I was trying; forcing myself with all my might to stay on track and analyze the situation I was in, and what I would do next. The waves of battles that constantly threatened me; my disintegrating health, and how much danger I was truly in, were of no importance -

For, it was only Ren's mental state that mattered now.

I swallowed heavily as I continued to trudge along. Within the grace period of the few seconds that I had before another battle would begin, I continued to pick apart my thoughts -

That's right. I'd never actually thought about it. I'd never actually considered what would happen if Ren developed a Palace; because, in my eyes, his vigilante justice was too strong to ever allow him to turn.

Haha....
