Synopsis:
Baek Mari is a vampire who tries to conceal her identity from the world, as they are seen as blood-sucking monsters who should die out already. After making a mistake toward a popular guy from school in a train and being recruited at a band club, Mari has slowly come to love mingling with humans yet she's anxious of being shunned if her identity will be revealed.
Review:
A better alternative for Twilight. It is wholesome, tackles humanity, social acceptance, genuine love, friendship, and family. The JaeRi ship is better than the BelWard ship and the drama here is more touching. I like how the author knows when to put drama and when to put comedy in without ruining the overall plot.
My favorite scene is the part where his dad cried in front of the PTA, begging for her child not to be expelled. It still made me cry even after rereading the series.
The title is also very witty. Orange marmalade is a fruit preserve from the juice and peel of citrus fruits boiled with sugar and water, in other words, the whole fruit is used to create the delicacy. In this manhwa, every character, minor and major, played a part in forming this masterpiece, leaving no one behind.
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Favorite character/s:
Jo Ara. That spoiled cocky beech you'll hate in every movie, but in this case, she turned out to be the best Mari supporter even after knowing her identity. She could've just spread the rumor anytime, but she didn't. She even ended up protecting Mari in the end. Kudos to her character development.
Han Siwoo. I have a love-hate admiration for this guy. I like him for supporting Mari's happiness, yet I also hate him for ruining the human-vampire treaty of No more drinking of human blood.
Baek Joseph. Mari's cute baby bro.
