"Betty I'm home!" Jughead yelled loudly as he shut the door. As much as he wanted to comfort her, he was starting to have enough of her locking herself away. Yes he had sex with another woman but he felt Betty was taking it to the extreme. They weren't dating. He went up to her door. "Elizabeth, I understand you're upset, but I need you to come out. I'm expecting you out here by dinner. I'm sorry sweetheart but if I don't see you I'm going to have sweets and fangs knock down the door" he said trying to be sweet but still in a stern tone.
"ok" he heard her say. He sighed not completely happy with her blunt answer, but glad she even said anything.
He went off to his room to take a shower and clean up after his day. Nothing had really went great at work today considering all he could think about was what he had done and how she had been effected.
After jughead had said that she went to the bathroom to brush her hair and out on some natural makeup. Just cleaning herself up.
After she was done she decided she should just go out now and wait for him at the dinner table.
She quietly opened her door and walked out to the kitchen. She let out a sigh of relief when she realized George was in the kitchen. She also saw the place had been cleaned up from when she came out this morning.
Everything was back to normal.
She slowly walked over to the seat. She took shaky breaths as she sat down in it and pulled herself in. She felt as if it's going to happen again tonight.
She sat in her usual seat because she didn't want jughead to suspect anything else. All he knew was that she walked in on him. Of course it shattered her heart, but it wasn't the reason for why she had locked herself out.
She fiddled with her fingers for a while before she heard footsteps form the hallway the led to jugheads room.
She kept looking at her fingers keeping quiet. The last thing she wanted was for it to slip, but she knew one simple hug, or even argument and she would spill everything.
"I see you've listened to me" she heard jugheads voice. She kept her head down and nodded. He came over and sat down George quickly after with their dinner.
She looked at it. She didn't want jughead to ask questions, but she was also very afraid of eating, in fear of if it containing another drug to paralyze her. She stared at the food not knowing what to do.
"are you not hungry?" Jughead asked. She shrugged. "Okay we'll change the subject, why are you so upset. I mean obviously because of what I did, but are you really that hurt" he asked calmly.
She looked at him blankly in shock of why he just asked that. "because" Betty said looking back down.
"becauseeeee why" he asked. She sighed. "Because". She knew it was going to spill if she said one word more.
"I'm going to need more than that darling" he said almost sternly but still in a calm voice. "because. Just because, I don't know what to tell you" she said becoming irritated. "So you're upset just because you feel like it. You're just mad at me and locked yourself in your room for two days just because?" He asked.
She huffed, "Will you just stop asking questions I'm not open to answering!" She yelled at him. All she could think about was how close she is to spilling. It's like a cup of water that is yet to overflow, and when it does, the secret is out.
He looked at her, surprise as well as annoyance spread across his face. "What are you hiding!" He asked raising his voice but not yet yelling.
"Jughead." She sighed. "I'm going back to my room" she said staring to run in hopes to almost beat him on locking her door.
She lost. She jiggled the door handle repeatedly as if she kept doing it, it would open. But it didn't.
She looked back at him with anger. He looking at her with confusion but also anger. "Open my door" she said calmly but sternly.
"No Elizabeth, not until you tel me why you have been locked in your room for so long" he yelled.
"For god sakes jughead! Just mind your own gosh damn buisness!" She yelled a tear slipping out of her eye in embarrassment knowing there was no way of getting out of this one. She was so embarrassed to tell him, she couldn't pin it on why, but she was.
"Tell me what is wrong!" He yelled arguing back.
"Stop!" Betty cried. "Don't. Don't start crying because you want me to feel bad and drop this. Tell me what the hell is wrong" he said standing up yelling at her as he took steps closer to her.
"Everything! Everything is wrong. Jughead when you went out to drink-" she said before sobbing. She didn't want to tell him, but the words felt like vomit she had been swallowing back all evening that she couldn't hold in any longer.
Jughead sighed finally getting close to an answer that wasn't about him sleeping with another girl that night.
"You were gone. And- and my dinner- it was drugged. I was fucking raped Jughead while you were out drinking. The replacement chef raped me. I was crying out for you while another man forced himself on me, and you were not here! And then when I woke up to go- to go cry to you. You- you were having sex with another woman and told me to leave. That's what's wrong jughead. So go ahead, shame me for locking myself away for two days. I went to you jughead, in hopes for comfort, but- but" Betty screamed at him now sobbing not even being able to get words out.
Jughead felt frozen as tears fell down his face. She was right. He's a terrible person. He has no right to be upset with her.
Jughead was speechless knowing if he even tried to comfort her it would make things worse.
The water had finally overflowed
