My best friend Lina and I walked down the hallway as she checked my history paper comparing it to hers.
I'll give you a run down on Lina. Catalina Cruz is tough, sharp-witted, non-filtered, extra ordinary girl. She happens to be one of the only people I'm really friends with in this school
Lina looked at my paper then back at hers. "How did you of all people beat me in History?"
I laughed. "I studied."
Lina stopped walking looking at me as if I told her I'm dying. "You studied. As in you sat down and opened a book and you know learned everything."
"Yeah, mamá was there holding her cuchara de madera ready to grita mi culo." I tell her rubbing my ass.
"Damn it's never a dull day with you and Miss Loretta."
I laugh. "That women is pure crazy Lina. Right now I bet you she waiting for me to show up and hand her this paper so she can see if I passed or failed."
"And if she think a 89/100 ain't good enough ella te va a gritar le culo." We both burst out with laughter knowing it could happen.
"I love her even with her craziness." I confess.
"You remember that time in 9th grade she found out you starting dating. Damn she went crazy." Lina started laughing.
"The women chased me down the street with her cuchara de madera."
Lina leaned against the wall still laughing. "I love your mother Gia, really."
"Señoras."
We bought looked up to see a mutual 'friend' of ours Avery.
"Hey Avery." I greet
"You girls coming to the party tonight?" He asked
"Hell ya." Lina answered enthusiastically
I shook my head. "Yeah, no sorry."
"Come on G. You never party, I promise you it will be fun." Avery tried to convince me
"Yah and we can celebrate you passing your history test." Lina added
"Say I say yes to going... what about Miss Loretta?" I ask them.
They both stop smiling as they tried to think of something. "sneak out!"
I cross my arms giving their plan a thought before smirking. "Okay I'm in."
Lina jumped up and down clapping her hands causing me and Avery to step away.
"This is going to be your first.. okay almost like the first party you've been to Gia. I can't wait!"
Avery and I laugh Lina can be crazy when she wants to.
"Mamá." I yell as I enter.
"Why are you yelling. I got ears that function perfectly fine." Mum yells from the living room.
I rolling my eyes I join her there waving the paper at her.
"Hmm, 89/100. Could have done better." she says
"Really women. Not even a well done. What kind of person are you?" I dramatically ask.
She raised an eyebrow. "Wanna come closer and find out?"
I shake my head. "No ma'am."
"Thought so."
We stare at each other before laughing.
"You did good Gia I'm proud of you. I'm sure your father would be too."
