Kellin POV

Boys are so cute.

But they are so stupid sometimes.

I'm aware I sound like a teenage girl with mixed feelings and complaining about how I want Billy to take me prom but he's already asked Chelsea. Blah, blah, blah. I just want a certain someone to ask me out but it seems as though they don't know how or won't step up to the plate. I'm sketching this tree to get my mind off things when someone bumps into my place on the grass.

"Oh shit! I am so sorry! I was turning and I didn't see you and I would not have done that. I swear to you I am not a violent person. I was looking at the sky and the sun kind of blinded me. You kind of just came out of nowhere. Not saying that it was your fault! I am sincerely sorry and just please don't sue." I look up and see that the person spouting out the apologies a mile a minute was none other than Vic Fuentes. "Shit! Hey Kellin! I am really sorry. I'm usually more cautious of these things. Are you hurt? Do you need a hospital?"

"Vic, I'm fine. What about you? You're the one who fell." I point out as I help him from the ground.

"I'm good. I'll have you know, I'm tough as nails."

"Is that so?"

"Why of course."

"So, if some big bad biker came out of the alley and tried to mug me, you'd swoop in and save me from the great peril that would come of it?" I tease.

"What makes you think I wouldn't? Is it the height?" I giggle a little. "I may be short, but I can assure you, I kick ass."

I boop his nose. "Okay."

"I can tell you don't believe me. What can I do to change that?" He questions.

"Hmmm...let's arm wrestle."

"Really?"

"Yes, really. You win, then I believe you and you get a prize. I win, you owe me a slurpee."

He has a thoughtful look on his face. "Alright, you're on."

We walk over to one of the picnic tables and sit on opposite sides. I place my arm on the top, Vic follows suit. I raise my brows to question if he's ready. He nods and we clasp our hands, the war commencing.

To my advantage, I have huge eyes that "mesmerize" people. I'm not trying to be cocky, I've just been told that on more than one occasion. So, I make sure to maintain eye contact with Vic. I don't know if its working, but he's staring right back.

Vic POV

He started off with the upper hand, but I think I'm actually proving that if in the face of danger, I just might be his knight in shining armor. I can't tear my eyes away from his gorgeous blue ones. His eyes burning into mine steer me in the wrong direction and I start thinking about what it'd be like having him look at me like that while he's on down on his knees, giving me a bl-

"Ha! I win!" Kellin's cheer brings me out of daydreaming. "Time to pay up. I would like a blue slurpee, please and thank you."

"That's not fair! You are very distracting."

"How so?" He smirks. "

"C'mon, how about that slurpee?"

----------

I drove us to the nearest 7-11, got Kellin his prize and we're on our way back to park. "So, what were you drawing earlier?" I ask after we get out the car and make our way back to where Kellin was.

"Oh, you mean before I was rudely interrupted?" He says.

My eyes widen. "I said I was sorry. What else do you want me to do? Do you want another slurpee? I can get you another or ten! It doesn't matter. Anything you want!" I'd do whatever he'd want at this point. I'm so tightly wrapped around his perfect little finger.

"Vic, Vic, Vic. I was only kidding. I'm fine with it. And if you'd like to know, I was sketching my favorite tree. It helps me think sometimes and I just think it's really great. I find myself here a lot and in the heat of moment I thought, 'Why don't I just draw it, so I can have it near me when I can't come here?'. I know its not the same as physically being by it but it is something, you know?"

A big grin makes way onto my face. "That's amazing. I wish I had something that made me feel that way. I wouldn't be able to draw it or anything because my drawing skills are equivalent to that of a two year old." I confess.

By now we're by the swings and I motion for Kellin to take a seat. "I doubt that you're that bad. You just have to put your mind to it." I start lightly pushing him.

"Nah, I'm just not artistic."

"Don't put yourself down. One day I'll have you draw me a picture. Or better yet, paint me like one of your French girls." He puts his hand to his forehead. He's so melodramatic, but it turns me on.

"Swing with me, Victor!" He shouts. I've let him swing by himself and I actually decide to join him.

Who'd deny a chance to swing?

I mimick his movements by swinging my legs back and forth. "I bet I can go higher than you."

"Jeez, Quinn. Is everything a competition?"

"Are you scared I'm gonna win?"

"No, I'm just not up to kicking your ass."

"Ahh, just like you did when we arm wrestled?" I look over and see him smirking.

"I already told you that you distracted me enough to pull me away from the challenge at hand."

"Or maybe you just are strong enough."

"Or maybe you distracted me."

"Or maybe you aren't strong."

"Or maybe I should deck you."

"I'm so scared." He says.

I jump off the swing and go after him only to see that he decided to run. "I thought you weren't scared!"

"I'm not! I just like to run." He screams.

"I don't believe you."

"I'm hurt!"

I look towards the direction of his voice to try to find him. I see the familar raven hair hiding near the bushes.

"Kellin! Where are you?" I shout in the opposite direction. His angelic giggles rang through my ears. I get behind him, whispering, "Boo."

I swear he jumped a foot off the ground. "Jesus, you scared me!"

"Oh contraire, I'm not Jesus. I'm Vic."

He rolls his eyes. "What the fuck ever. I didn't know you were there."

"I'm sorry." I say holding my hands out for a hug.

"Yeah, well, sorry doesn't sweeten my tea." He starts walking away with his arms crossed over his chest.

I decide to tackle him, he wiggles underneath me and tries to free himself. "Get off of me, Fuentes."

"I think I'm good. Are you not comfortable?" I ask cheekily.

Within a split second, Kellin manages to flip us over and is straddling me. My breathing hitches and I think he notices because he smirks. He leans down to my face and I thought he was going to kiss me, so I leant a little forward only to have him whisper in my ear. "If you were a tree you'd be a pretty tree." He leaves but not before giving me a peck on the cheek.

I touch the part where his lips were just seconds ago and smile.
