Austin POV
If there are two things I hate its squished pizza rolls and homophobes.
Right now I was experiencing the latter.
I got out of bed this morning, excited to go to school, you know, not for anything or anyone in particular.
I ride the bus as per usual and I'm not afraid to admit that I was severely bummed that a certain someone was not on the bus
I grab my phone out of my pocket and see that I have a new message.
Vic the Dick: Hey, are you at school yet?
Instead of not replying and being a weenie, I text back.
Me: No...I'll be there in about five. What's up?
Vic the Dick: Well, try to hurry.
Me: I kind of can't, considering I'm on a bus. Just tell me what's the matter.
10 minutes pass, Vic didn't text back and I get a bit worried. It seemed serious. This is why I need a fucking car. I grow even more anxious as we approach the front entrance of the school.
I hop off the bus, ignoring all the exclamations from the other kids trying to exit.
Me: Vic, I'm here. Where are you?
Vic the Dick: Oh, I forgot to mention I'm not there yet but Mike said something about someone harassing some ginger kid, Alvin, I think.
Who the fuck is Alvin?
Me: Do you mean Alan?
Vic the Dick: Shit, I do mean Alan.
As soon as I read that text, I run all over the school looking for Alan. I don't know why I care so much about a couple of fucktards messing with him . But I suppose that I've grown to enjoy him as a person in the past two weeks that I've known him, so I guess it makes sense that I feel the need to help him out. He is technically my friend in a sense. Even if he is annoying in a cute, dorky way.
"Aww, look he's crying. What a fucking idiot!" I hear coming from beneath the stairs.
I look over and sure enough there's Alan on the ground, quietly sobbing.
"Hey, get the fuck away from him!" I run over, shoving the guy and his goons away from the tiny ginger.
"Are you his boyfriend? Coming to his rescue? How sweet." The question caught me off guard making my heart do a thing.
I grab the guy by the collar of his shirt, lifting him off the ground. "So, what if I am his boyfriend? I don't appreciate the fact that you and your band of fuckwits decided to mess with an innocent little ginger. If I ever catch you fucking with him again, then I swear on everything that I will rip out your throat and shit down your neck. You got that?" He nods his head in a swift motion. I point to the other three guys standing around with their hands up. "Same goes for you goons. Next time, make better decisions and when you see someone beating up a defenseless person, stop them instead of joining in, fucking idiots. Now, scram!"
They all run off, muttering something along the lines of "That guy being crazy."
I quickly regain my composure and start tending to the frail figure on the ground. Instead of having him try to walk by himself, I pick him up bridal style. I get to the nearest bathroom and gently set him down.
"Austin?" I hear him say. He attempts to move into a sitting position but struggles and starts coughing like crazy.
I rush over to him with wet paper towels. "Hey, hey, hey. Settle back now. Try not to sit up too fast, they got you pretty good."
I dab at his wounds with the paper towel ever so gently. I do my best not to hurt him, but he's so fragile that even the slightest of touches must hurt like hell. Alan winces and his expression breaks my heart. Sadness, confusion and hurt was written all over his face. "Why did they hurt me? I've never even met those dudes. I-I just...I just." He starts sobbing and buries his face in his hands.
"Those guys are dicks. I have no idea why they would ever want to hurt someone as sweet and gentle as you." Having to never deal with something as bad as this, I wasn't sure how to comfort him. I decided the best thing was to just have him let it all out. I wrapped my arm around the small boy. "Its okay. They won't hurt you again, I promise."
••••••••••
Throughout the remainder of the day, I asked my friends to keep an eye out for Alan. I was really worried about him.
By the time lunchtime rolled around, I was happy to see Alan walking in with his head down.
"Alan! Over here." I motion for him to come over to our table.
I step up and engulf him in a hug. He winces and I assume that it's because of the events that took place this morning. "Shit! I almost forgot. Are you okay? Do you need anything?" The guys snicker behind me but I couldn't care less, I'm just trying to tend to a friend... Nothing wrong about one bro helping another bro.
"Who's your little boyfriend, Carlile?" Alex questions with a smirk.
"Shut the fuck up, Gaskarth." I whisper-yell. I turn back to Alan with a smile. "This is Alan, we met on the bus. Alan, this is Vic, Kellin, Tony, Mike and last, certainly least Alex. Don't mind him." We sit and I wrap an arm around Alan nonchalantly.
"How am I last and certainly not least, you dick?" Alex squeaks.
"Well, for starters, you have a tendency to be rude af." Vic states.
"You want to talk about being rude af, fight me."
They get into an animated discussion on why Alex doesn't think that he should be introduced last. I look over at Alan and see him smiling, occasionally laughing at the idiots that I like to call my friends.
"Are you doing better now?" I whisper to the boy next to me.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I never got to thank you for helping me out earlier but it meant a lot to me. Thank you." He wraps his arms around me. I look over at the guys and the only one who sees me with Alan is Vic. He smirks at me with a knowing look.
I send a glare his way and wrap my arms around Alan for the second time today. I think could get used to this.
