More internet digging got you nothing. None of you had any idea what could have killed Brian Harper. You sat at the laptop with your legs crossed, scrolling through myths and legends in search of anything close to whatever did this. Sam sat across from you at a second laptop. Occasionally he would rub at the wound on his hand, almost absentmindedly. You had changed into jeans and a T-shirt, and so had the brothers. After an hour you found yourself starting to get bored. You glanced through the web pages more quickly until they all blurred together.
"What's hentai?" Sam asked, looking at his computer with his brows furrowed and a frown on his face.
"It's, uh, anime tentacle porn," you answered quietly, your cheeks flushing slightly. "I think you need to try a different search."
Sam chuckled a little. "How do you know what that is?"
"I wish I didn't," you flushed a little more. "Spent too much time on the internet, I guess. There are things I wish I could unsee."
Sam grunted.
"Bobby doesn't know anything." Dean sighed as he put his phone away. "We've got nada."
You sighed. As you had stopped actively searching you had an idea. "Hey, shouldn't Gabriel be back by now? I thought he said he was close to getting Cas."
"That's what he said," Dean shrugged.
You quirked an eyebrow and turned back to your laptop.
"Woah," Dean started as he almost ran into a newly arrived archangel.
"Woah, indeed," Gabriel smirked.
"Where's Cas?" Sam asked.
"He moved again," Gabriel said with a frown, turning to the other Winchester, "but I'm this close." He held up his thumb and forefinger. "Just thought I'd check in."
"Yeah, well, we've got zilch on whatever this vamptopus is," Dean told him.
You wrinkled your nose. "I like octovamp better."
"There's no such thing," Gabriel said with a raised eyebrow.
"Exactly," Sam agreed. "So whatever it really is, that's what we need to find."
You hung your head back with a sigh and looked up at the ceiling. "We can't find anything if we have no idea what we're looking for."
"Sounds like it's time for a break," Gabriel observed.
"I thought you were this close?" Dean asked.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm going," Gabriel waved his hand dismissively and then disappeared.
The rest of the day turned into a break, with Chinese food. You all woke up the next morning to find another man had been killed over by the baseball fields. You put your suits back on and headed over.
At the scene there was a hole in the fence where the man had apparently been impaled. There were also hoof prints chasing him to where he died. Dean talked with one of the officers, but they didn't have much information. You noticed a red headed woman by the ambulance that the body was being put into. You assumed it was his wife.
"It's sad," another officer came up next to you. "Lady's gotta pull her friggin' eight year old out of school and tell him his dad's dead."
You looked over at the officer, before saying, "Excuse me," and walking over to the woman.
"Ma'am, could I talk with you?" You flashed your badge.
"I'm sorry. I-I really need to go," she told you as she turned to do just that.
