Dallon tried avoiding contact with his parents as he got home, but as always that didn't work out. As soon as he opened the door he was being called to the kitchen where his mother had been making food. He tried to act unbothered, and just see what she wanted.
"How was Ryan's?"
This made Dallon go pale. Telling her the truth would be the better, but after what happened he just didn't want to speak about it.
"I dunno"
She seemed a bit sad at the answer. "Well what are you all sad about?" She asked, straining the noodles in the sink. Dallon was usually happy after he got home from Ryan's house, and now he was just upset.
The question rang in his ears. Did he have a reason to be sad? Did he have a right to even be remotely upset about something that he wasn't apart of? Especially if that something wasn't hurting him? He sat down, his finger painting patterns on the marble counter.
"Oh honey, is it about George?"
"How do you-"
"His ex-wife called me a few hours ago,"
Dallon sighed. He's not exactly surprised that someone told her yet, him and Ryan had been friends since elementary. He was just shocked that Ryan's step-mother of all people had told her.
She placed a hand on his shoulder. "It was bound to happen hun" The gesture was short, yet caring.
"Whatever"
Dallon tried to end the conversation quickly so he could just go back to his room. His mother had different plans, however.
"Well, I see you don't want to talk about that. But I called you in here for a different reason" She started, wiping her hands on her apron and folding them on the counter. Dallon held his head in his hand, waiting for whatever his mother was preparing to say.
"Now, I just would like to know. Pete's mother called me a few days ago, she told me why you and Ryan got hurt by them"
Dallon seemed clueless. She could sense this, and realized that she had to be blunt.
"Dallon, are you gay?"
Word count-357
Kinda rushed whoops
