The First Scroll
The Battle at SkyHillThe day had started grim, as if the gods below knew of the blood ready to be spilled among the mortal plains. The weather was as fierce as to be expected from the Gore-Lands. The Landscape was rocky and harsh, dark red, almost black rocks jutted from the ground like the spikes on the deadliest of plants down in the Southern regions of Opek. The clouds above weren't much better, a deep gray that swept outwards to every horizon like a massive fur rug in a palace. The rain was crashing down onto every rock, dragon, and animal that was around. This cursed storm, how long was it going on for now? Three sun cycles? It was hard to tell considering no one had seen the sun since the storm came in from the East.
Foriginaldr marched forth, his battle-damaged armor rattled onto his scales and spikes as he went forward. Rain dripped from his horns as he moved on, his eyes set ahead to the horizon. Around him, hundreds of other Brontolords moved on as well, each scarred and bruised in their way. Up ahead Foriginaldr could just make out the towering and slim shape of Obsidian-Point Tower. That place, even the thought of it gave him shivers that moved his scales. Obsidian-Point was the most dreadful place on the entire continent! It was the headquarters of the usurper known as Emperor Obsidian. A cruel and heartless RidgeBack drake that was over 300 moon-passes old!
He was as mysterious as he was powerful and cruel, and from what Foriginaldr heard from prisoners, Obsidian never really left his tower. Stranger still, his city, Boragitha was built oddly quick for what was expected. Not many beings besides other RidgeBacks stepped into the city of Boragitha. The harsh walls that had been erected stretched as high as mountains and were just as jagged as the rest of The Gore-Lands. Foriginaldr's attention to the distant and ominous building was stolen by the commanding voice of their general, Wing Leader Armothanz. The large and bulky dragon had wrapped his massive claws around a crudely formed outcropping of rock. "We've trekked for days now eggbothers and eggsisters, but know the struggle truly begins for us,"
Armothanz paused and pointed with a partially broken claw, his armor rattled as the shape of his arm moved. "Ahead, the vile armies of Obsidian march towards us, we must be ready for them, they could attack at any moment!" He continued. "I have trained you all for the fiercest of fights, consider this to be your final test from me," He stopped again and spread his gargantuan wings. They shadowed many of the Brontolords in the front of his army, including Foriginaldr himself. "This is our finest hour, from this point on, we are not just soldiers, we are Warriors of the great storm!" Armothanz cried out with a courageous roar after.
The army roared out with him, every roar echoing and spreading out so all of Opek could hear their warrior cries! Foriginaldr didn't roar, but he would if he could, so he would have to be a fierce warrior in battle! If he wasn't, no one would remember him after his time was over. However, the roars of pride had been cut off too quickly by the bright orange rain of a large ball of lava, rock and fire crashing towards them. The ball of blazing death had just missed the Brontolord army, instead, it collided with a large boulder. The collision resulted in a bright explosion, molten rain splashing down around the army and onto some of their armor as well. 'They're here,' Foriginaldr thought with a small shiver. He watched Armothanz close his wings and swing his armored body around to find the source of the ball of fire.
So did Foriginaldr, and what he saw made his eyes widen like the sun cresting over the mountains in a summer's morning. An army of vicious ThornTail RidgeBacks that Armothanz had spoken of caught up to them. But, how?! They weren't there just a moment ago! The Ridgebacks were massive, long beasts, constantly drooling acid from their toothy mouths like a dark green waterfall. Their bodies and mostly their back were coated in plated scales to protect them from most damage, which is why they have rarely been seen wearing armor. "They're here! Ready yourselves! This is our fight!" Armothanz yelled to the army when he glanced back to look at his soldiers. Forginaldr snarled, his claws began crackling as lighting crept up his rigid forearms.
