Michael got up out of bed and stretched. He looked at his clock, 8:30 AM. That meant Lennon had already left. He sighed, he didn't mean to oversleep. Shaking his head, he trudged into the kitchen. He looked in the refrigerator, nothing. He walked outside and got into his car, deciding to go grocery shopping. He sent Lennon a quick text, and was on his way.

After he had finished shopping he walked to the car putting his groceries in. As he walked to put the cart away, he saw a tiny gray kitten. He crouched down and outstretched his arm to it, trying to get it to come closer. The kitten came to him, and he stroked its soft head. The kitten had no collar, so he picked it up and put it in the passenger seat, taking it home with him.

He smiled at the small bouquet of white roses he had bought for Lennon, placing them on her bed. The kitten had fallen asleep on the couch, leaving Michael alone to finish unpacking.
