"It was him," Steve says breaking the silence in the truck, "He looked right at me like he didn't even know me."

"How is that even possible? It was, like, 70 years ago," Sam says.

"Zola. Bucky's whole unit was captured in '43. Zola experimented on him. Whatever he did helped Bucky survive the fall," Steve says and I sigh, "They must of found him and . . ."

"None of that's your fault, Steve," Natasha says and I watch as she tiredly closes her eyes.

My heart sinks as I watch her. "Even when I had nothing I had Bucky," Steve says and then car then stops.

I look forward towards the driver and then the back doors open. "Grab her," Rumlow tells two officers pointing at me.

I look at them with wide eyes as they pull me out of the car and throw me onto the ground. I hear Natasha, Steve, and Sam start to shout as I am brought to my knees. "We can't have you surviving now, can we," Rumlow says as he pulls out three needles with a red liquid in them.

"No," I say quietly as I begin to move away.

"Move and your friends get shot," he says and I notice guns aimed at Natasha, Sam, and Steve. I stay still as he brings the first needle to my neck.

I scream in pain as the liquid enters my body. "No! Stop!" I hear Natasha shout.

Rumlow covers my mouth and injects the next needle. "Stop!" I hear Steve shout.

Then the last needle is injected and I feel my eyes grow heavy. Rumlow finishes and pats my cheek. "Have fun on not being able to heal," Rumlow says before I am thrown back into the truck. The doors are close and Sam helps me sit. "Asshole," I mumble quietly as I sit up.

Natasha looks at me worriedly and I nod towards her reassuringly. She nods before leaning her head back as the car begins to move. I notice the amount of blood gathering on her jacket and Sam does as well. "We need a doctor here," Sam tells the officers, "If we don't put pressure on that wound, she's gonna bleed out here in the truck."

One of the officers pulls out an electric baton before hitting the other one with it making us look at them with shock. They then kick the officers to knock them out. "Ah," they say taking the helmet off and I smile when I see Maria, "That thing was squeezing my brain."

Sam, Steve, and Natasha look at Maria with shock and she then looks at Sam. "Who is this guy?" She asks pointing at him.

----------

I tiredly walk behind everyone as we pull up to a facility. Maria helped us escape the from the truck. There was a vehicle ready for her to take us in.

We walk up to a gate and Maria opens it and make our way down a hall. I feel the sickness effect from the poison take over my body, but I hold it in. "GWS. She's lost at least a pint," Maria says about Natasha as a man runs towards us.

"Maybe two," Sam tells him.

"Let me take her," the man says.

"She'll want to see him first," Maria says and I look at her confused. We continue walking when a curtain comes into view. Maria moves it and my eyes go wide when I see who it is.

Fury.

"About damn time," he says looking towards us.

We are then brought into the area and Natasha is sat down at a chair and I help her take her jacket off. The doctor then begins to work on her shoulder. I sit in the chair next to her and sigh as I feel sweat drip down my forehead. Another side effect.

I feel a hand grasp mine and I tiredly look down. Natasha's hand is in mine and I look up at her. She looks at me concerned before looking at Maria. "Do you have anything that can help her?" Nat asks her.

"I'll be right back," she tells us and rushes out of the room.

"Evalina," I hear Fury say and I look at him, "I'm assuming they injected you with it?" I nod and he sighs. "I'm sorry, it was never supposed to be used against you," he says and I nod.

"It's okay," I tell him quietly. It's not okay, I don't know why S.H.I.E.L.D. would have it if they wouldn't use it against me, unless it was because of HYDRA.

Maria rushes back in with a cup in her hand. "This won't stop the poison from effecting you fully, but it should help with the side effects," she tells me as I swallow the liquid.

Natasha squeezes my hand as I sigh in relief. I feel the nausea begin to disappear and I relax more. "What are your injuries?" Steve asks Fury.

"Lacerated spinal column, cracked sternum, shattered collarbone, perforated liver, and one hell of a headache," Fury tells us and my eyes go slightly wide.

"Don't forget the collapsed lung," the doctor says as he works on covering Natasha's wound.

"Let's not forget that. Otherwise, I'm good."

"They cut you open. Your heart stopped," Natasha says and I glance at her before rubbing my thumb gently across the top of her hand.

"Tetrodotoxin B," Fury responds, "Slows the pulse to one beat a minute. Banner developed it for stress. Didn't work so great for him, but we found a use for it."

"Why all the secrecy? Why not just tell us?" Steve asks him.

"Any attempt on the Director's life had to look successful," Maria tells us.

"Can't kill you if you're already dead," Fury says after, "Besides, I wasn't sure who to trust."

"Where's the bathroom?" I ask Maria breaking the silence.

"Down the hall, third door on your right," she tells me and I nod.

I let go of Natasha's hand and make my way to it. Once I enter, I quickly lock the door and take my shirt of. A frown appears on my face as I see red lines across my upper body from the poison. I run my finger over one and then grip the sink.

I begin to have flashbacks of the Red Room. My grasp on the sink intensifies and I break the edge when there is a knock on the door. "Evalina," I hear Natasha say quietly.

I stare at myself for another second before putting my shirt on. I open the door and step into the hallway. My eyes soften as I look at my girlfriend. "You okay?" I ask as she comes up to me.

"Yeah," she replies softly, "They gave me some medicine, so I'll be okay. What about you?"

"I should be fine," I tell her and she sighs.

"I know you're having flashbacks," Natasha tells me and I look at the ground. "Hey," she says placing her hand on my cheek making me look up at her, "It's okay to feel like this. Just remember that you don't need to have powers to be strong."

"I know. I have someone that shows me that everyday," I tell her with a smile. Natasha smiles at me before wrapping her right arm around me and pulling me into her embrace.

I gently wrap my arms around her so I don't hurt her and nuzzle my face into her neck. Natasha begins to run her fingers through my hair helping me relax. "I'm so happy your okay," I mumble into Nat's neck and she kisses my head.

"Like I tell you, I never plan on leaving you."
