"I'm his fail safe?" (Y/N) raised a brow. "A little risky but if Orion Pax is as clueless and naïve as he speculates then I guess adding me into the mix could work."
Soundwave was his usual silent self.
Megatron had clarified his plan after (Y/N) had been cared for and a diagnostic run to ensure her optics were fully operational. Other than an anomaly within the USB aspect of the two devices, she was fine. This meant she could properly act as an Autobot prisoner, saved by the Decepticons and given her sight back. Megatron had speculated simply putting Orion in charge of deciphering the Iacon Database wouldn't be enough to further convince him that they were doing good on this planet. A little heroic action would greatly boost the pre-Prime's trust in the Decepticon name.
"I suppose it is reasonable." The human woman nodded, using the thin beam to walk from the medical table to the computer terminal. Knockout had left it there before leaving to speak with a patient. "It is not a complete lie, which interests me. I believe playing on Orion's sympathies would be useful, saying instead that these optics were an Autobot experiment, and I can act as though they pain me."
Another action to take with this small task, but Megatron knew more about his long-lost friend than this human. However, the war lord would not be in the mood to discuss his ex-compatriot's personality after Soundwave had already explained the story of Orion Pax and Megatronus to their human asset.
"I will not suggest anything to be changed." (Y/N) then stated, earning silent approval from the lithe mech who watched her. "Your leader, as you have told me, is far more knowledgeable in this matter than I am. I'm sure the renewing of his long-lost brother has also renewed old scars, so a potential argument would not be a very wise thing to drum up out of him."
Once again, she seemed to read his mind and once again, he chose to call it coincidence.
Knockout came back with many a curse being left in the air about useless Vehicons and Miners not knowing a thing about basic care for their finish and paint jobs. Soundwave cared less, simply informing the medic about where (Y/N) was to be brought. Knockout didn't really want to go near the Autobot leader again, reverted to a pre-Prime state or not. Fortunately for him, he was called by Megatron to steal a very important power source for their quickly finishing spacebridge. He excused himself with a relieved sigh and Soundwave realized he'd have to take the femme to Orion.
This was not ideal.
"Walking myself would take a while." she stated, still standing on the computer terminal.
:Someone likes stating the obvious.: Laserbeak decided to be sarcastic, but the thought that traveled from master to servant made the Minicon give a bond-sent huff.
A silent order was given for the drone to disconnect, and he hovered over (Y/N) for a moment. The two argued between themselves (unknown to (Y/N)) but Soundwave won and the smaller mech lowered so the human femme could crawl between his wings. She seemed to understand, making sure the Minicon would not be off balance from the extra weight.
"I will introduce myself, then." She gave a small nod. "I'm sure Orion will find this quite amusing."
Soundwave left without a lingering order or suggestion for their first meeting. Instead, he watched from the cameras as Laserbeak flew from the medical wing to the energon storage bay and easily entered Orion's research terminal, or rather, cell. The pre-Prime state turned at hearing the familiar yet unexpected sound of Laserbeak's infamous whistling. The mech's optics widened at the sight of the tiny alien sitting atop of him. They stared for a minute, making the silent mech wonder if maybe their prisoner recognized (Y/N) somehow.
They couldn't afford recognition.
"You- are a human?" Orion questioned, more in awe than suspicion.
"You're Megatron's old friend?" (Y/N) tilted her head to the side, optics adjusting.
"Yes, I am Orion Pax." He greeted and held out a servo for the human to step on to. She acted a little hesitant, glancing at Laserbeak as if he were a safe place, before gingerly stepping into his servo. "I was told humans were not yet ready to behold our race."
"We're not." She admitted bashfully. "I was taken by the Autobots." (Y/N) played with her hair, as if nervous, staring at her tiny pedes. "The Decepticons saved me yesterday. Made new eyes for me and even gave me a place to stay here!"
"I was going to ask about your optics." Orion nodded. "I had done a little research, but there doesn't seem to be much known about your species at the moment. I know you are meant to be completely organic."
(Y/N) nodded in return.
"The Autobots were trying to dissect me. They took my eyes first. Soundwave and Laserbeak found their off-sight lab and-" She paused, sitting down in the pre-Prime's servo with a solemn expression.
"I see." Orion nodded. "I assure you, the Decepticons will not let harm come to you again. The optics suit you."
The two held an easy-going conversation, Laserbeak having gone. (Y/N) would ask about Orion and his species, and the bigger being did the same, becoming increasingly curious in her tiny alien form. He told her she reminded him of the Minicons that used to dwell on Cybertron, how Laserbeak seemed to be the last of that race. She explained there are far tinier creatures, ones that even her eyes couldn't fathom to see unless a microscope was used. Not many had a free will of their own, but some were smarter than others. The archivist chuckled as she described how small she realized she was after her run-in with his Cybertronian race.
It was during a small bout of comfortable silence when the sudden loud pedesteps of frantic Vehicon drones started storming past the door.
"What could that be?" Orion wondered, but quickly noticed (Y/N)'s fear as she huddled near his servo.
"I don't know, but I don't like the sound of it."
Orion furrowed his optic brows and took a step to leave the terminal, his digit finding a small force trying to reign him back.
"Please don't leave me-"(Y/N) held panic in her voice, optics strained with fear and desperation. "What if it's the Autobots? I don't want to go back."
The mech was torn between staying with this terrified being or going to see what was causing the commotion. Someone ordered another harshly, making the human flinch.
He decided to stay with her.
"No harm will come to you, little one." He assured, and picked her up gingerly, bringing her close to his chassis. "I will make sure of that."
The human in his hold froze, but only for a few seconds before she decided it may be best to play along with his protective actions. She curled closer to his chassis, hearing the steady thrum of his spark. Such a fascinating piece of their biology, calming and rhythmic. She felt herself yawn involuntarily before closing her eyes and falling into a dreamless slumber.
