Chapter 8: Escaped!

"Are you sure about this? When did this happen?", Suga asked his mate in a panicky tone over the phone. 

A news that, if mentioned, could bring about chaos to Mia's already fragile mind. Damn!

"I was going for my night rounds and I realized his cell was empty. I alerted the officers immediately and we have placed an APB on him. We will get him, do not worry", his mate tried to convince Suga. 

His mate knew very well how Suga would be feeling since he himself was feeling antsy too. Suga looked displeased with the news he had received in the morning from his police mate and was worried about Mia getting hurt again by Ray. He looked up at Jackson who had just emerged from Suga's room still half asleep. He ended the call with his police mate and smacked Jackson on his shoulder to wake him up completely.

"Ray has escaped prison. Head to Mia's office now and bring her back home. I will head to the police station and find out more about Ray's escape", Suga said as he pushed Jackson back into the room.

After 10 minutes, Jackson came out looking fresh with a pair of rugged-looking jeans and a polo t-shirt. He saw Suga wearing his shoes and pulling his hoodie upright before he got up from the sofa.

"Does Mia know about this?", Jackson asked as he put on his shoes.

Suga shook his head indicating Mia doesn't know anything about this.

"She can know about this when she is already safe here. Don't tell her anything just yet", Suga warned Jackson.

Jackson agreed and they both headed out from the house. Suga locked the door behind him as Jackson started the car.

"You coming?", Jackson asked Suga.

"I will be taking a walk to the station. Just in case", Suga said as he inserted his hands into his hoodie pocket.

Jackson drove off the lawn with Suga's car to Mia's office while Suga took a long walk to the office. Suga decided to walk because he felt he might have a chance to bump into Ray Santiago in the streets. Ray would be on the lookout for Suga and Jackson since Ray was arrested by them at the hospital. Ray might want to take revenge on them for doing what they did to him so Suga has to be on alert this time.

Meanwhile, Jackson managed to reach his destination and parked in one of the spots underground in Mia's office. Mia is working as a news editor and writer in her department. Mia always wanted to become a successful writer and an editor and that is why she managed to graduate from Journalism and Language Studies. Mia's main work is to proofread written content for grammar and spelling errors, come up with creative story ideas, manage and lead a team of writers, besides writing features, conducting interviews, and planning content ahead of time. Everyone loves her in her department because she works creatively and works with fellow writers and she is willing to work as a freelancer too.

Ray and Mia often used to fight because of Mia's long working hours and she may be on-call to meet deadlines. Ray doesn't understand that her job can be stressful because of strong competition, especially in the print publishing department. Ray always wanted Mia at his side all the time and wherever he could see her. This is where Ray got a little green-eyed when Mia had her annual party at her office and she did not attend calls from Ray at that time. Ray came by her office dragged her by her hair and brought her back home. That night Mia couldn't sleep due to the painful bruises on her face and her body.

As Jackson reached the elevator of her office, he asked one of the staff working there if they know Mia Isabella from the news department. The staff showed the way to her office and Jackson thanked her politely with his huge bright smile. He knocked on Mia's glass window and waved his hands at her.
