"You can't be serious." Louis looks at the girl, jaw clenched and no emotion shown.
"I am sorry, Louis. But it's okay. We can do long distance, right? At the end of the year you graduate and you can come there and it's not like we would be together all year. You go to America as well and..."
"How long did you know this?" Louis doesn't even let the girl in front of him finish.
"About a week but..."
"About a week? And now you decide to tell me? The day before you leave? Keep your 'I love you' bullshit, El. If you really loved me you would have told me sooner. We could have spent time together."
"I wanted to spend time together after the party but you just wanted to drink, Lou. I invited you over yesterday but you wanted family time."
Louis is getting angrier. Every word that Eleanor says, pisses him off even more.
"Oh, so you are blaming this on me? I'm sorry! How the fuck could I know that my girlfriend would move to the other side of the globe in a few days? This, the fight that we are having right now, is all your fault! I wouldn't have been so angry if you just told me. But you decided to lie to me, Eleanor, to hide this. This is not something you hide."
"I am so sorry, babe! Please, I don't want to lose you." Eleanor sobs are loud and Louis wants to cry as well, but he refuses to drop one single tear in front of the girl.
"You lost me. We are done, El. There is no way that we can be together if you are on the other side of the world."
"But you would have gone to America as well! I never told you I'd break up with you." Eleanor fights back.
"That's for bloody 3 months! You are going to fucking live there. Eleanor, long distance is not going to happen and I'm not moving to Australia for you. I'm not leaving my family and my friends to be with you. I care about you and I really like you but El, I don't love you. I'm not that crazy about you that I'm crossing oceans to be with you. It will be hard but I'll move on and so will you. You are a pretty girl. Find yourself some hot Australian guy on the beach. We are both still young. Have fun El, cherish our memories but make new ones, better ones."
A single tear is slipping from the corner of Louis' eyes.
"So this is it? This is goodbye?" Eleanor's voice is only a whisper.
"This is goodbye, babe." Louis puts a stray of hair behind her ear. He is looking into her brown eyes, and yeah he kinda likes her, but there is something missing in her eyes. His heart is not doing crazy things when he looks into the brown pair.
"I'm going to miss you, Lou." The girl starts sobbing and Louis takes her in his arms, comforting the girl.
"I'm going to miss you too. But we will be alright. We will both find someone that's better for us. This is destiny telling us that we aren't meant to be and we should just accept that. One day you'll find a boy that is madly in love with you, truly loves you and treats you as a princess. But I'll never be that boy, El. After three years I still can't say I'm in love with you and I don't think it would have ever happened. This is for the better." Louis slowly pushes the girl off him.
"I'm going home now. I wish you a safe flight. I'm so sorry this had to end like this. Enjoy Australia, I heard it's amazing."
"Can we still be in contact?" Eleanor looks up at Louis, who shakes his head.
"We can't stay stuck in the past, El. I'm going to say goodbye now, and when I walk out that door you are never going to see and hear me again. But that's okay because we have the most amazing memories together and you are going on a new adventure. Goodbye, El. All the best."
Louis kisses her cheek and turns around, ignoring the loud sobs of the girl behind him.
--
"FUCK!" Louis enters his room, kicking some random object in his way. Finally he is able to let the tears escape. Eleanor is going to leave and he will never see her again. Although Louis is not in love with her, it hurts, and she was Louis' protection shield in a weird way that Louis only knows about.
"That's from fucking Eleanor!" he says taking the picture frame and throwing it on the floor. "And this is from her!" he takes a teddy bear that he got from her for valentine's day 2 years ago. "This fucking watch!" Louis rips off his watch. "Even this fucking t-shirt!" Louis takes off his shirt, throwing it with all the stuff that reminds him of Eleanor. He jumps on it, want to ruin it all. He doesn't want to remember the girl. Not having Eleanor makes Louis vulnerable again. Eleanor helps him to hide his dark side. Louis is lost without her. He drops on his knees, sobbing loud.
"Hey Louis, are you home? I heard some noi... Fuck Lou!" Harry walks towards the boy that is sitting in the middle of his room, sobbing loud. He immediately takes the boy in his arms, pushing him against his chest.
"Sh, it will be okay. Everything will be okay, Louis. Let's go to your bed, you need to lie down. You can't sit here on the floor." Harry helps Louis up and leads him to his bed, taking the boy in his arms again.
"Do you want to tell me what happened?" Harry's voice is soft and it makes Louis' heart melt. His voice calms him down so easily. It's like an angel talking to him.
"Eleanor and I broke up. She is moving to Australia." Louis is not crying anymore, he is just hugging Harry.
Harry is saying different things, trying to make the boy feel better. But the only thing Louis can focus on is the fact that he is shirtless, Harry is shirtless and their skins are touching. Louis' heart is beating like crazy and he prays to god that Harry doesn't notice. And this is exactly why Louis is so upset that Eleanor leaves. She didn't even leave the country yet and Louis' mind is already going places where it shouldn't be. Louis can't let this happen, but for now he will allow himself to enjoy the gentle touch of the American boy.
