Chapter 3: Silent Noise

The wolf watched from a distanceas the human male exited the confines of the tent and leaving the female to defend for herself. Its' eyes glowed like a light shone from a flashlight. The wolfs' stomach growlded loudly and it let another howl escape from its mouth, letting the female know that she was being watched...

My entire body tensed as I heard the screech of the wolf and knowing that the wolf was still close by, fear was an overwhelming thing and it seemed to suffocate me when I tried to drag air to my lungs. But for some reason I wasn't afraid, knowing that I was being watched caused some of the fear to edge away. On the other matter, knowing that other things were out there, lurking like the predators that they were had the pulse beating in my throat beat even faster. I touched my bandaged shoulder and knew that I had been attcked and being the victim of the whole thing. Outside the tent, animals lurked beneath the thick underbrush of bushes and thick vegitation. I heard the owls hooing and the insects chirp their night siren as I lay amongst it all. 'I'm surrounded by danger.' My mind thought dramatically. 'But the strange thing is, I'm not scared.'

A movement caught my attention. I lifted my head and stared at the entrance to the tent and my heart quickened. There was nothing there besides the dead silent night. I hoped Angle would be alright and not try to get hurt. I sighed and managed a small shake of my head and struggled to sit up, winced as stinging jolt rang through my shoulder and took a steady calm breath as I inhaled the fresh air that lingered outside.

Angel walked a fast pace through the enteror of the forest. The smell of the trees emanated from the cool freshair. He had hoped that Juniper would be alright without him. It wasn't taht he couldn't trust Juniper but the fact that she had been attacked had his heart tripping in his chest with a common fear that seemed known to him since his parents died. He still had nightmares of the time when the accident was ever present in his mind. It had him waking up in the middle of the night with sweat coating his entire body as if he had been running a race and had been going on forever.

He pushed at the fall of his hair and pondered things that seened to be unspeakable to anyone but himself. Angel often wondered if he should spill his guts to Juniper and see what she has to say of his dark past.....

The wilderness was like nothing I had ever known. I often thought that life itself was something to live for, with danger always stalking you and other wild adventures that had so much excitement. But now I wasn't really sure. What was it that I was suppose to live for anyway? What was the sole purpose of me living on this planet and think that I have a life here and not think that I'm alone? I have no reasons why I should die of this wound, why that wolf should now come back nd finish me off. I hoped it didn't. My mind was hyper aware of everything that surrounded me. The silent noises that came from outside was too overwhelming to bear. I wished that Angel was back here protecting me like a friend should. But I knew that he went for food in the nearest town that was closest to the forest.
