The day after Akaashi burnt the cabin Bokuto returned. He gazed upon the smoldering ashes a pain in his heart. The sun walked over to the burnt memory squatting down. He picked up a piece of the wood that was still intact. Brushing it off he brought it to his chest.
" This isn't checkmate.. It isn't over yet Velvet Red" The king stood up carrying the piece of wood in his hand. He started on foot to the kingdom of the moon. Putting the wood into his pockets he pulled out a box. Opening it he smiled slightly. A gift for his daughter laying in it.
When he stepped foot into the darkness a chill can over him. It faded once he heard the laughter comming from the castle grounds.
   " That wasn't to 25 ! " Idalia laughed at the moon.
"I count fast! " Akaashi defended. The star groaned pointing at him.
   " Count again mama! "
"Ok, ok"Akaashi closed his eyes and started to count. Idalia giggled and ran off trying to find a spot. Bokuto cupped his hands around his mouth. " Hoo! Hoo! " He called from behind a tree. Idalia stopped in her tracks looking around.
" Hoot! Hoot! " Idalia responded. Walking towards the owl. Bokuto laughed slightly poking his head around the tree.
" Daddy! " She yelled running over to him. Bokuto dropped to his knees embracing the girl into a warm hug.
" Hey babygirl! How have you been? " The sun smiled looking at his daughter.
" I've been good!  Mama has been teaching me magic! " Idalia smiled reaching up to take a strand of Bokuto's hair.
" Ooo! Are you enjoying it? " Bokuto asked shifting so the girl could braid his hair.
" Yeah! I like learning things! Mama told me I get my smarts from him. And that you aren't the brightest " She deadpans.
" He's been talking about me to you? "
" Mom says I get one day a month. Where I can ask what I want about you. " Idalia moved onto braiding a different piece of hair.
" That's nice of him.. Oh! I almost forgot I have a gift for you! " He watched the little girl light up with excitement.
" A gift! " She giggled sitting on his lap. Bokuto pulled out the box taking out the small necklace. He placed it around her neck and smiled slightly. Idalia smiled looking at it. The necklace held a Moon cut out of a circle. Inside the circle next to the moon rested a star. Then a chan ran through the circle a sun on the end.
" It's so pretty! Thank you daddy! " Idalia hugged him.
" You're welcome Idalia.. I figured since we don't see each other much. It could serve as a reminder of me. The star and moon are you and Akaashi. The sun is me. And even though I'm far away. We're still connected " He held Idalia close.
Akaashi stood with his back against a tree spying on the father and daughter. The moon brought a hand up to wipe away a stray tear. How foolish he was for everything. He desperately wanted to go back in time. And change almost the wrong he caused their family. But Bokuto had a chance, and he chose Catharine over them.
The Moon slid down the tree hugging his knees to his chest a small cry leaving his lips. Bokuto looked up in the direction of the whimper.
" Arnt you and your mama playing hide and seek? " Bokuto raised his eyebrow. The little girl gasped.
" I forgot! " She hugged Bokuto quick then ran back to the palace. Akaashi watched his daughter run past him giggling. He felt a hand on his shoulder. The Moon looked up at the sun. He got to his feet hugging Bokuto tightly.
" I'm sorry Bokuto-san. I'm really sorry. I took this from you. I ruined your chance's of being her father" Akaashi cried into the olders shoulder. The sun stayed silent and just let them moon cry. When Bokuto looked at Akaashi he saw that same scared boy. The boy who was doing what his parents wanted him to do. The one who let his parents make decisions for him.
" Akaashi.. I've divorced Catharine. I have no one ...but right now I have all I need in mg arms-"
" Bokuto-san.. I wish I could take you back...I really really do.." He stepped out of the Suns grip. Akaashi playing with the skin around his fingers.
"Your parents arnt here anymore Akaashi.  You can choose what you want. We can be the family Idalia needs. The happily ever after you've-"
" We can't Bokuto-san... I waited to long on finding someone " Akaashi spoke in a whisper.
" What are you saying Velvet Red? " He gripped the Moon's hands tightly.
" The council has decided for me... My father said I had a year after his death to find someone.. I was able to push it off three.. But now I'm to marry.. Yuu Nishinoya of the thunder kingdom. " The moon looked away at his feet.
" But do you love him"
  " Bokuto-san-"
" Do you love him" Bokuto cupped the raven's looking into the emerald blue eyes.
"No.. No I don't songbird.. It's hard to love anyone after you.." Akaashi looked at the taller kissing him softly. It felt like the first time when their lips touched. The sparks flying once again between them. But they didn't last. Soon Akaashi was pulling away from the kiss. And once again Akaashi left his lover standing their. The love they shared burning to ash li
" BOO! " iIdalia yelled jumping our from behind a tree. Akaashi jumped grabbing his chest.
" Idalia! Oh sweet Velvet Red you're just like your father" He laughed slightly taking the little girls hand in his.
" Your necklace is pretty little Velvet Red"
   " Thanks mama! I found-"
" No need to lie anymore... I saw you with Bokuto-san. I know you know" Akaashi sighed.
  " Oh.. I'm sorry mama! "
"No, no! It's all ok. You deserved to know. No more lies.. No more" Akaashi muttered squeezing the little hand tight.
