Elizabeth's POV:

"What is this?" I asked, taking a sip of the drink that Jack brought me. It was bitter.

"It's just beer. Have you never had it before?" He asked.

"No. It's bitter."

"You get used to it." He said. I shrugged and took another sip of the bitter liquid.

"So how are you liking being free?" Luna asked.

"It's euphoria. But I do want to get more books." I said.

"We could probably figure something out." She said, winking mischievously. I smiled and took another sip.

"Slow down there," Priscilla said. "Don't want you getting drunk."

I chuckled and put down the drink. "Priscilla, have I taught you nothing?" William asked. "You never stop a pretty girl from getting drunk!" He sounded very frustrated but I just rolled my eyes.

"Yes you do, because that girl is gonna end up making mistakes. Mistakes like you." She retorted.

I laughed and ran a hand through my hair. It was then that I noticed Jack staring at me. He was studying me as if I was some kind of book that he didn't understand. So he had to keep rereading the same sentence over and over again.

"What?" I asked.

"What?"

"What's going on? Why are you staring at me?" I asked, leaning forward a little and lowering my voice.

"No reason."

"Why are you acting so weird? Did something about trying to kill me scare you? Do you have killer's remorse?" I joked, smiling.

"I didn't actually kill you, I saved you." He said. His face being so close to mine turned my face bright red. I tried to cover it up but he was already smirking.

"Shut up."

"I didn't say anything." He said.

"Okay, but why were you staring at me?" I asked. His face flattened.

"Just let it go."

"No I wanna-"

"What are you two being so secretive about?" Luna asked. We both moved away from each other. She had her eyebrow raised at Jack as if she knew something about him that I didn't.

"Nothing." I said. She kept that look at Jack, waiting for his answer.

"Nothing." He finally said. Everyone's eyes were on us.

"Okay..." Luna said after a long and very fleshed out pause.

I sighed as they returned to their conversation from before. I've read in books that alcohol helps you clear your head. So I chugged the entire glass.

Luna's POV:

Having never drank before, it didn't surprise me that Elizabeth was drunk after only one drink. I lugged her up the stairs to the bookcase.

"Luna...." She slurred her words and I opened the bookcase.

"One sec, Evil." She hopped inside, legs wobbling as she made her way to the couch. On her way, she picked up a purple glass stone. Very fragile and she was moving it around like a toy, saying 'ooh'. "Oh, no, no, no, no, no." I said, grabbing the stone from her hands and putting it back down. "We need to get you to bed."

She laughed and then seemed to have an epiphany so she grabbed onto my arms. "Luna..." She slurred her words. "I have something to tell you."

"What is it?" I actually really wanted to know. She was keeping something from me, I could tell. Both her and Jack had been acting so strange. And they were weirdly close despite not hanging out very much. At least, not with my knowledge.

"You can't tell anybody. Shhhh." She held her finger to my mouth and I swiped it off.

"For god sakes, would you just tell me please?"

She laughed again. "I'm in loooveeee." She said, giggling as she fell on the floor in front of the settee.

"Really? Who's the lucky fella?" I asked, kneeling down in front of her. This was interesting to say the least. Truth be told, I hadn't known Elizabeth long, but I was closer with her than I ever was with any other girl. Even Priscilla. She'd been so secretive lately, but I'd never seen someone be that happy all of the time. It was really nice to see Elizabeth happy after having such a crappy childhood.

She laughed again at my question. "I'm serious Evil, who is it?"

"It doesn't even matter. He's in love with this other girl and the whole point of our 'friendship' is that I'm supposed to help him find her. We'll never end up together."

"Wait, are you in love with Jack?"

"But he's so nice and thoughtful. And I love his sarcastic comments and how smart he is and just ugh! He is too perfect. It makes me want to cry." She said, as if she ignored what I had just asked.

"Just tell me the name!" I said.

"It's blondie. Art boy. Jack." She said. I threw my hands up in victory. "But you can't tell him."

"I won't, Evil. You won't even remember this tomorrow." I retorted. She chuckled and rolled over on the floor. "Now let's get you to bed."

I picked her up off the floor and walked her to her room. She collapsed on the dark blue settee that sat in the middle of the room and immediately fell asleep.

I draped a blanket over her. "Night night, Evil."
