~DIAMONTÉ.
"Ohh!" He chanted. "You're getting pretty good at this."
I smiled at his comment before passing the ball to him. Devin and I have been friends for about a year now and it has been absolutely amazing to experience such an unforced and platonic relationship. However, I've started developing some hardcore feelings for him overtime... and something tells me he feels the same way.
I mean, he invites me to his games all the time and even pulled his strings to get me through to the pre-game practices, hence I always casually hoop with him before the games start, and he's super sweet and genuine towards me. What other sign do I need... right?
"I'm even wearing heels. You've got some competition 'cause I'm getting better than you." I smirked as I headed to my seat with him behind me.
"Is that right?" He flirted.
"Hell yeah." I said.
"Alright... if you say so mama."
"Good luck!" I said as we bumped fists and he walked off.

Hours later, the game ended and of course they won. I actually wanted to take him out to dinner just to congratulate him... and tell him how I felt. I stood up to head to him but I awkwardly paused when I saw him kissing another girl. I was really hurt by the sight, so much that I backed up, hoping he hadn't seen me, and walked off.
"Diamonté!" He yelled as he paced to me.
"Huh?" I quickly said, still replaying what I saw in my head.
"What's up, you're just gonna leave like that? Kendall and I finally made things official and I wanted you to come along with us to dinner. A few of my other friends will be there too." He said, completely oblivious to my behavior.
"I'm good." With that said, I walked off.

A couple of months went by and Diamonté had completely cut Devin out of her life, or at least she thought she had. It had been so long since they spoke and she didn't want things to be this way but she knew it was the only way to move forward.
She had just come back from grocery shopping when she received a text from an unknown number with a location she knew all too well. It was where she and Devin would hang out to hoop and chill.
~
"Hey, you made it." He smiled after she sat next to him on the bench.
"Well this is still one of my favorite spots so..." Diamonté shrugged.
"You missed it?"
More than anything, she wanted to admit that she missed him, but chose not to say it. "Why did you call me over Devin?"
"... I wanted to apologize," he started, making Diamonté turn to face him. "I miss us hanging out and I felt terrible when you blocked me."
Diamonté bluntly stared at him, while he attempted leaning in to kiss her. She kissed him back, recouping all the feelings she had for him.
"Wait!" She stopped. "What about your girlfriend?"
"I'm breaking up with her," he said. "All that time we spent apart made me realize how much I actually want you in my life... and my feelings for you."
Smiling from ear to ear, Diamonté finally released the way she'd felt after so long. "I'm glad you said that because I feel the same way."
He smiled back as they hugged. He took her hand into his and they stood up to go for a walk in their favorite secluded area.
I hope you liked it, D! ❤️
