We continued our training, every day I saw Hiccup with a new way to deal with dragons, he held out some grass as the Gronkle came flying over, I grinned, "Long Cao. I like it." I whispered in his ear as I spun past him, he looks at me with a big smile on his face, I grinned, everyone was slowly watching us, everyone crowding around Hiccup. "How did you do that with the Gronkle?" They bombard him with questions, "Oh I think left my axe back at the arena, you guys go on ahead I'll catch up with ya." He runs back and crashes into me, "Argh!" He caught me right before I'd fall, I blush, "Thanks." I stare at him, "Come on Hiccup, you can't do that! I called dibs on Nat!" Snotlout shouts, "You call dibs on every girl you see." Ruff looks at him, "Not on you moron." HE puffs his chest and keeps walking.
There was a Nadder running towards us it ran towards me after Astrid threw an axe at it and it deflected it away with its spines, I stood my ground and she sniffed me, "AHHHHH!" I heard Astrid screaming with her axe held up, I quickly scratched her neck and under her chin making her drop to my feet, "Oh... crazy... haha..." I laugh nervously while Astrid stared at me with an open mouth.
The Terrible Terror came out of the small latch, "HA! It's like the size of my-" Tuff screams as it latches onto his nose, Hiccup uses his shield and uses the edge to reflect a small dot on the ground as the Terrible Terror chases it and lets go of Tuff's nose and runs back into his enclosure, he puts his foot on the gate and turns around at us with a smile, he looks at me and I give a big grin. I was walking out at night, it had been months since I last went out to look at the stars, I was just about to call for Stormshear when I heard crashing in the Blacksmith, "Hiccup? Are you in there?" I was just about to poke my head in, "Nat! Hi Nat. Hi Nat. Hi Nat." He keeps repeating, "Hey are you alright?" I saw him get yanked back, I take a step closer, "No, no, no! Stay away!" He shouts, I furrow my brows, "O-Oh." I look down and rub my arm, "No, I don't mean it like that. Nat. Truth is. I really- ugh how do I say this." He rubs the back of his neck, "I really li-" He got pulled into the workshop, "Hiccup?!" I opened the flaps and it was like he was never there, I felt my heart sink a little, "Well, thing is... I like you too Hiccup." I stare up at the night sky.
The next day I was flying through the sky on Storm's back, I stare out in the ocean, "It just seems like yesterday we were flying aimlessly across the ocean huh Storm? Now look at us, we've got a village to live with, food to feed our bellies and a place to sleep. Feels like home huh?" I pat the side of his head, he growls, "YEAHH!" I heard a voice yell, I look down, "HICCUP?!" I shout, he looks up and saw a Nightfury, I poke my head from Storm's body, "NAT?!" He shouts back up at me, I dive down and Storm opens his wings again, we flew next to each other, "I should probably explain." He quickly says, "Uh. Yeah! Since when have you had a Nightfury?" I was shocked. We landed on an island a few kilometres away from Berk, Hiccup and I pulled in a haul of fish for Storm and his Nightfury to eat, the two of us watched the sunset, "You know... I haven't really told you the whole truth about me and I'm sorry. Thing is I came from the village of Longsan, each clan had their species dragons, Stormshear's been with me since I was just a baby, we were raised together, that's a tradition we follow in our village. The Zhao family were the protectors of the furies, I thought they were all killed when that man massacred my entire village. I never knew there was one left." I stroke the other Nightfury, he growls softly and runs his head through my hands and walks around me, wrapping his tail around my waist, Storm growls jealously, I laugh, "He's a beauty, what's his name?" I scratch his chin, "Toothless." Hiccup scratches Storm's head but he just huffs and faces the other way, I laugh, "Come on you big baby. Give Hiccup a chance." I sit down next to him and rest my head on his shoulder, I felt him stiffen but relax after a while, the two dragons chow down their fish while we cook ours over a fire, Toothless regurgitates his fish and the head and some part of the bone was left, we heard Terrible Terrors screech and flap down, they try to steal some of Storm and Toothless's fish but they growled ad guarded it protectively, "Did you make that yourself? It's amazing." I saw the tailfin on Toothless, he sighs, "Yeah. After I shot him down I couldn't bear the look on his face so I made him a tail to help him fly again. I knew it was wrong to kill him. I just couldn't do it." He rests his hand on top of mine, I held my breath slightly and blushed, "Here you go." I throw a fish to one of the Terrors after Storm blew a fireball into its mouth, he crawled into my lap and rested his eyes, I felt his body go up and down quickly with each breath, "Everything we know about you guys is wrong." Hiccup stares down at it, "Hey. Nat. Remember before. I wanted to say something. But Toothless pulled me away? I think I should just say it, I can't keep it a secret for much longer cause. I-" He gives an exasperated breath, "I really, really like you, no actually I love you. And I just can't hide it any longer. You realised and noticed me back when everyone doubted and looked at me like. I was just dirt on their boot. Will you be my girlfri-" He looks down at me and saw me fast asleep on his shoulder, he smiles and kisses my forehead, "It's alright, I guess it can wait a few more days." He smiles and rests his head on top of mine and closes his eyes.
"Quiet please! The Elder has decided." Stoick says, Hiccup and Astrid were in the arena, Gobber raises his hook above her head, Gothi shakes her head, everyone was shocked, he points at Hiccup and she nods, "Of you've done it Hiccup! You've done it! You can kill the dragon!" Gobber was beyond excited, Snotlout and Fishlegs holds him up, "That's my boy!" Stoick shouts, "That's great... we're... we're..." Hiccup looks down at me, I give a weak smile and shrug.
"Leaving. We're leaving." I saw Hiccup with a basket full of fish and he was walking to the cove where Storm and Toothless were, "Hiccup. I think you're overreacting, I'm sure we can think of a way for you to avoid this." I try to reason with him, "Nope, nope. Toothless, let's go." He saddles up, "Hiccup, come on." I look up at him, I sigh, "There's no way I'm getting through to you right?" I smirk, "You're right. Care to join me on a flight milady?" He holds his hand out, "Such a flirt loverboy." I take his hand and sit behind him on Toothless, Storm huffs and gruffs, "I promise I'll be right back. Go rest up, you and I can have a speed run tomorrow you big grump." I tap his snout, he rumbles in his throat, "Don't give me that attitude young man." I bat his head playfully, he gives my hand a big lick and covers it in saliva, happy with his damage he heats up the ground beneath him and lays down, "There's a good boy." I smile and wrap my arms around Hiccup's waist.
We flew up near the clouds, I reach my arms up and touch them, smiling, Hiccup flew us through the clouds where we saw the aurora, "It's beautiful." I rest my chin on his shoulder and close my eyes and hug him tighter, "Thank you Hiccup. For everything, since I left my island I've been so alone but once I met you. It's like my life filled with colour again. Thank you." I lean forward and kiss his cheek, he clears his throat, "Y-Yeah. Since you came, everything's changed, I finally see the reason to put myself forward for the people I love and protect." He clears his throat again, I laugh, "Don't tell me you're going to confess, that's my job." I lean forward and grin, he laughs nervously, "Yeah..." He rubs the back of his neck. We overlooked the glowing torches of Berk, "What will we do about your final exam tomorrow?" I lean my body against his, "Don't remind me, that'll be a nightmare." He groans, suddenly Toothless dove down, "Argh!" We both screamed, "Toothless what's happening?" Hiccup asks, I clutch onto him tighter, "Woah what is it?" Hiccup looks around, fog was everywhere, a Monsterous Nightmare was just to our right and he was carrying a dolphin in its talons, "Get down." He whispers, I press my body flush against his, my heart was leaping out of my chest, dragons were everywhere, "What's going on?" I was scared, "I don't know. Toothless, you've got to get us out of here bud." Hiccup puts his hand on his jaw but Toothless shook it away, "It looks like they're hauling in their kill." I look around, "What does that make us?" I grip onto the front of his shirt.
He dove down and we found ourselves in a nest, "What my dad would give to find this." Hiccup looks around, all the dragons dropping in their prey into a hole, "Oh, that's satisfying knowing all our food is being dumped down a hole." Hiccup stares down at the red hole, Toothless landed on a small landing of rock, keeping us hidden, "They're not eating any of it." I was confused, a Gronkle flies over and throws in a small fish, he was about to fly away when a large dragon appeared and ate it, my breath hitches and I grasp onto Hiccup, "Toothless, we've got to go. Now." He says, the dragon was just about to go back down when it sniffed and looked our directions, "Hiccup. I'm scared." I felt my heart thumping, "We'll get out of here. It's fine." He puts his hand on top of mine, Toothless shot off the landing and flew away, the dragon crunched down right where we were a moment ago, all the dragons fly out of the nest terrified and afraid they'd be next.
"It makes os much sense, it's like a huge beehive. They're the workers and that's their queen. It controls them." We land back in the cove, Storm gallops over and nuzzles into my side, I hop off Toothless and pet him, "Look, Hiccup." I sigh and turn around to him, "I told you before, ever since I came to Berk you've made my life more colourful. I-I guess I just want... I just wanted to say I love you." I quickly pull him into a kiss, I grabbed onto his harness and angle my head down, I didn't want to look at him after that, "First time I was dragged away by Toothless, second time you fell asleep on me. Third time's meant to be the charm but I guess you beat me to it." He lifts my chin up, "I may not be the Vikingest Viking out there but I promise I'll do whatever it takes to make you happy and to keep you safe." He rubs this thumb across the braid in my hair, I chuckled and looked away, "All I want is the Hiccupest Hiccup there is. That's what'll make me happy and feel safe." I go on my tiptoes and kiss him again, he cups my cheek and kisses me back, "I love you Nat. So, so much." He rests his forehead on mine, I laugh and rest my arms around his neck, we heard the low rumbling of Toothless and Storm as they stare at us, "Shut up." I turn away from them, Hiccup laughs and pulls me into a hug, "What are you two lookin' at. Mind your own business." He wags his hand, the two seemed to be laughing and I buried my face into his chest from embarrassment.
