Chapter 1

2:28 am

(Y/n) is sitting in her dark room, facing her bright screen. It's so quiet that all she can hear is her fingers hitting the keyboard of her laptop and the water boiling in the kitchen. Her head is spinning while she's half asleep, hunting the internet for anything to present to her boss tomorrow. She massages her temples and sighs in frustration. Sliding her feet into her black slippers, the sleepy girl gets up and walks to her small, old kitchen. She turns on the light and it flickers into a dim orange glow that reveals the dirty dishes sitting in the sink and left-over ramen from dinner. (Y/n) turns off the stove and removes the teapot from the heat, pouring it into a mug, and drops in a pack of chamomile tea—her favorite. She strides to her room and places her yellow mug on the bedside table. She throws herself on her quilted mattress, cuddling her stress away.

   Beep. Beep. Beep. Be—

(Y/n) hits her alarm clock, almost missing the "off" button as she stumbles onto the cluttered floor. Half-awake, she trips her way to her small bathroom to wash her face and harshly brush her teeth, avoiding the mirror. She walks back to her unkempt room and rummages through the piles of clothes on the floor, searching for the outfit she wore the day before. She spots her dark blue skirt and white dress-shirt lying right beside her alarm clock which read "7:12 am" on it.

   Oh crap.

She snatches her clothes off the floor and slips them right on, nearly tripping while pulling her skirt up. Moving on to her hair, she groans when she remembers that she hasn't untangled it last night so she decides to tie it in a low bun. She takes another glance at the clock: "7:19 am". She whines and runs over to her short coffee table and gathers her documents, camera, laptop, and stuffs them into her briefcase, making sure not to forget her phone and earphones. She hastily walks to the front door and shoves her feet into her shoes. She grabs her black coat and walks out of her house.

(Y/n) is now sprinting to the bus stop, and from a distance, she can already see her bus stopping, so she starts running faster and arrives right on time. Finally... she can breathe – well, not yet, for the bus is too packed. All the seats are taken, and maybe even all the handles, too. She mumbles 'sorry' and 'excuse me' as she tries to walk through all the half-asleep businessmen and students to grab a handle as the bus starts.

When (Y/n) reaches her destination, she hops off the bus and walks towards the building. As she's walking, she pulls out her phone and unlocks it to find a whole lot of unread emails, three missed calls from her mom, a missed call from her boyfriend, and a handful of messages from her best friend, Kang Dahuin. She starts by opening Dahuin's:

Dahuinnie: (11:53 pm)

Unnie, are you free tomorrow night? I want to go clubbing with you :3
