Chapter 13
5:48 pm
Walking to her office, (Y/n) drops the pen she had on top of the documents she carried in her hands. She leans down to grab it, but the few top papers slip from her hands and cover the carpet. She sighs and squats down to pick them up.
"Oh! Let me help you, Ms. (L/n)," the girl looks up to see Mrs. Lim, her coworker, who helps her.
"Oh, no need—but thank you, Mrs. Lim," she smiles at her, and they stand back up, Mrs. Lim handing her the papers and (Y/n) bows, starting to walk into her office.
"Wait—Ms. (L/n)!" Lim calls, causing her to turn to her.
"Yes? What is it?"
"Uh—well, I wanted to ask you for something—a favor, if you please," she timidly looks to the ground, "I have something really important to attend to, it's about my son, well that's not important, but I have some other work here that is due today, so can you please help me by getting it done—I promise I'll make it up for you!" she adds before (Y/n) can decline. Sigh. Don't I have enough work to do already? But at the same time, it's gonna be for her son...
"Well, Mrs. Lim, I will do your work this time," (Y/n) tells her, earning a sigh of relief from the lady, who holds both of (Y/n)'s hands, causing her to jolt from the sudden touch.
"Thank you so much, Miss," (Y/n) nods and smiles at her as she lets go. She bows and leaves (Y/n) with an extra bundle of work. Dammit, what the hell has gotten into me these days, accepting to help everybody with open arms? Oh well, she looked desperate... might as well give her a hand.
(Y/n) sits at her desk, opening the paperwork and the email Ms. Lim has sent her before leaving. She starts by filling in the papers, wondering if the company needs them, and then her train of thought moves toward the amount of time she'll take to finish. Oh, shit! I told Dahuin I'll meet her at six! What time is it now—6:02?! Oh my god, how the hell did I forget? She's never gonna want to see my face if I don't show up—shit. Should I call her to meet somewhere else?
The girl takes her phone and presses Dahuin's contact icon, hoping she wouldn't be too angry at her, or that she hasn't got there yet—
"Hello?" (Y/n) feels her heartbeat increase hearing her friend's soft, sweet voice that reminded her of strawberry syrup. Addicting to swallow.
"D-dahuinnie! Hello," she scrambles up her words, trying to think of how to explain herself, "I called to ask you if we can meet at Soul Café, if you don't mind, of course—I'm far from KR right now, and I can't leave until I finish my work..." she tries to avoid mentioning the company she's at.
"Soul Café...? You mean the one in JYPE?" her friend asks, (Y/n) not missing the change in her voice.
"Yes, that one..."
"Okay, I'll see you there,"
"Oh—Okay! Thank you so much,"
Her friend hangs up and (Y/n) sighs, slouching in her chair, and then sitting back up to continue her work while her friend comes.
💫💫💫
(Y/n)? She is... I don't know. I'm supposed to love her. Yet, sometimes I want to run away from her—not from fear. From something else, I can never admit to myself what it is... and these things make me heat up and want to ruin everything for her. I don't want her to have a better life than me, I'm better than her. She's just trying to be like me. But is it really that bad if I get happy when she's sad? ...Maybe. Now, she's in JYPE for whatever reason and after we've agreed to a time and place, she calls me to a whole different place—ah! A vacant taxi, finally!
