WARNING: TRIGGER WARNING.

Kara and Lena's Apartment, Third Person POV.

Kara lay on the couch, her head resting on the armrest with a blank stare in her eyes. Her gaze was directed at the ceiling, and her thoughts ran in circles in her mind. It was almost as if she were numb. As if she was done.

Lena hurt. Lena hurt badly seeing Kara like this, Lena hurt knowing she couldn't take the pain away from Kara. It hurt her badly. It hurt her to see Kara so hurt. So broken. So gone.

Lena began to walk towards Kara slowly, careful in her steps to not startle the blonde. Before she could even come within eight more steps, Kara's head snapped towards Lena, her eyes boring onto the younger Luthor.

The blonde spoke, "Oh. It's just you," she said as though as she were relieved. Her shoulders dropped and she relaxed into the couch cushions, letting her chest fall as she released the breath she had no clue she had been holding in for so long. Her fists unclenched and her jaw softened. She relaxed.

"Yeah," Lena replied, "It's just me."

Alex and Maggie's Apartment

Maggie lay in bed in the middle of the night, watching as Alex slept in peace. Watching the rise of her chest when she inhaled and watching it fall as she exhaled. Watching the crease in her eyebrow when something happened in her dream, then watching the crease leave once it left and a new dream arrived.

But Maggie was lost. She was lost in what to do. It was no secret that she had deeply cared about Kara. She was worried about her. She was worried that Kara may never recover, and she was worried that Kara was shutting them out. She was worried that something had happened to her.

A faint yet audible knock broke the detective from her thoughts, her gaze moved to the door. The door peaked open, with the little strip of light from the hallway slightly brightening the pitch-dark room. Kennedy walked into the room with small steps with soft footsteps echoing on the floor with each step.

"I- uh.. Maggie? I can't sleep.." Kennedy spoke in a quiet voice. Maggie nodded, pulling the bedsheets off of herself and walking over to her daughter.

Maggie sighed, "Me neither, kid. You wanna go outside for some fresh air?" Kennedy nodded with a quick glance over Maggie's shoulder.

"She's sleeping."

Kennedy nodded, and the two walked outside and out to a quiet park. They sat on the bench, the silence thick as the night.

"What's going on with Kara?" Kennedy asked. Maggie sighed.

Contemplating her response, Maggie decided to say, "I'm not going to lie to you. I think that Alex knows something because earlier in the DEO yesterday, Alex and Kara had a talk. I don't know what it was about... but I could see that something clearly happened." Kennedy nodded.

"Thank you for telling me the truth."

Silence grew on the two again, and Maggie sighed. There really was nothing to say. Kennedy spoke up, "I have to tell you something." Maggie nodded, signaling for the younger woman to continue.

"I-I really don't know how to say this. At- at all. I don't. I- um," Kennedy paused, "I-I uh I'm lesbian." Maggie smiled.

"I fucking knew it!"

Kennedy stuttered, "Y-you did? I'm sorry? What?"

"I was a kid once. I was your age once. I was going through the same exact thing. Every time either Alex or I mention boys, you're no longer interested. Yet the minute one of us mentions girls, you're suddenly interested."

Kennedy nodded, "You're right."

"I always am, kiddo."

Alex was waiting for Maggie and Kennedy in the living room. Almost as soon as Maggie's boots touched the threshold, Alex spoke up, "Where in the heck have you been? It's three in the morning!"

"I- we- uh," Kennedy began to stutter.

"You scared the living crap out of me!"

Maggie walked over to Alex, "We just went for a walk. Neither of us could sleep." Alex rolled her eyes and scoffed.

"And you didn't think to leave a note? I was so worried! Don't you understand that? What if something had happened to you?" Alex argued back.

Maggie raised her voice, "I'm an adult! I can perfectly take care of myself and Kennedy!" Kennedy shifted her weight to her other foot, staring at the floor.

"I know you're an adult but that doesn't mean you can just disappear in the middle of the god damn night, Maggie! It's not safe out there! Honestly, I'm now just starting to think if you're really as good as a mother as I thought you were," Alex fired back.

Maggie silently laughed, "Fuck you, Alex."

Alex put out both her arms into a wide gesture and pointed out, "See, look. Another prime example. How many times have I told you to watch your language around her?!"

The two argued back and forth, but Kennedy slipped out of the apartment while they weren't looking. She walked over to Kara and Lena's, tears leaking from her eyes as she knocked on the door to be greeted by Lena.

"Kennedy? Where's Alex? Where's Maggie?" Lena's eyebrows creased with worry in her eyes as she let Kennedy inside.

"They had an argument because Maggie and I went for a walk 'cause we couldn't sleep, and we came back an hour ago, and Alex got upset and called Maggie a 'shitty mother.'" Lena sighed and pulled the girl in for a hug.

Lena grabbed her phone, "Here's what we're gonna do. I'm gonna call your mother and let them know you're here with me, and safe. I'll tell them that I'll drop you off when you're ready, and I'll let them sort out their shit."

Kara called out from the kitchen, "Who are you talking to?" Lena sighed again, and helped Kennedy with her coat and her shoes, and settled the girl onto the couch before walking over to Kara.

"Kennedy's here-" Lena began speaking, but Kara immediately sat up. Lena shook her head, "Don't move. You're still injured. Alex and Maggie had an argument, and Kennedy came over here because of it. Is it alright with you if she stays the night?" Kara nodded.

"Okay, thank you. I love you."

"I love you too."
