Third Person POV
Kara sighed as her hands rose to rake her fingers through her hair, sighing heavily as she closed her eyes in an attempt to clear her mind as she stood on the balcony at DEO headquarters.
"Kids," she thought, "kids. How could I have casually have brought that up without regarding the last time? And why, why did she have to bring this up when Kennedy is missing?"
In the midst of Kara's thoughts, she could hear footsteps echo towards her before feeling a hand on her shoulder.
Kara's head snapped up, and so did her body. Well, not up. Her body snapped to the left, moving away from the figure. She could already feel her heart pounding against her chest, almost as if her heart was an angry shark in a cage, pounding against the metal bars fiercely.
"Sorry," she spoke up after realizing the "figure" was Alex.
The agent sighed, "It's alright. I- I should've known better than to startle you after.." she paused with no intention of finishing her sentence, knowing that the blonde knew what she was talking about.
All she received in return was a nod from Kara.
Kara moved back to the railing, leaning against the metal bars which she could easily break, but she just didn't care.
"Why is this world so crappy?" she huffed.
Alex bit her tongue before responding, "It just is."
Kara pounded a fist against the railing in anger, "It's not 'just is', Alex! What if they do to Kennedy what they did to me? Huh? Would she ever be okay after that?! Hell no. She would never be okay after that. Never. It's not a 'just is', it's never been a 'just is.'"
The taller woman looked over to the right to see a stray tear falling from the blues of her sister's eyes. Watching as her shoulders trembled and her breath unsteady, Alex walked over to Kara, giving her a heads-up before wrapping her arms around her little sister.
"Hey. Hey, that's not gonna happen. I know you never meant for my daughter to get hurt or to get lost, nevertheless taken."
Kara scoffed, "That's not the problem. I'm not worried if you're upset with me or not, I'm worried about Kennedy. I'm worried that she'll get hurt. I'm worried that Lena's right."
"What do you mean by that?"
"By 'I'm worried that Lena's right.'?"
Alex nodded.
"Oh, just an argument about having kids but it doesn't matter right now. It can wait."
"Okay."
"I hate Ben Lockwood so, so much."
"Lockwood?"
